Ichigo made it into the shop after class and started his shift by feeding Jeremy a piece of candy bar. Ichigo wasn't even sure why he'd bought the damn thing as it was way too sweet to eat first thing in the morning. Jeremy had no objections however.

"It means I was safe though," she said, slumping down in her chair. "Which you ought to be happy about."

"Yeah, but..." he frowned at her reasoning. He did like her to be safe, but it was like trying to convince Rukia that he could handle hollows on his own and she needn't be there. "It's your duty."

[intraspective]

"Beating up people isn't my duty," she said patiently. "Accomplishing the missions we're assigned and protecting the village is my duty. That the missions happen to include a lot of beating up is just part of it. We accomplished the mission, my duty was well done."

"Okay, that's good," he nodded and he opened the bag of sandwiches since Ino wasn't moving. "But the beating up can be the fun part, right?"

Ino wasn't really hungry yet, though there was definitely a sandwich in there for her. She peered at him over her hot chocolate.

"Beating up things is always fun," she said lightly. "Geez."

"Except when it beats you up more," he said, resigned. He pulled out two sandwiches and studied the toppings. "Which one do you want?"

She wriggled her fingers at the one closest to her. "Chicken, please."

And if he didn't hand it over, she'd kidnap it from him.

"Hmmmm," he eyed her hand, then the sandwich. "But I was in the mood for chicken." Not really, he didn't care much.

She wibbled at him. With finger wriggling at the sandwich.

"It looks good too," he tried to ignore her... and Jeremy who was staring up at him as well while he made to take a bite from the sandwih.

Ino leaned over and pressed a kiss to his face.

While making a grab for the sandwich.

"Hey!" he objected, frowning at her. Jeremy on the ground quickly moved towards Ino as she had the better sandwich now.

"Could at least give me a full kiss if you're going to steal from me."

"I'm not stealing from you," she said, giggling and tugging a piece of it off for Jeremy, leaning down to offer it to him. "I'm reclaiming what's mine."

"Hrmph. Fine," Ichigo took a bite from the beef sandwich and watched Jeremy gratefully take the piece from Ino. "You're spoiling him."

"You're not feeding him enough," she argued back, settling in her chair more comfortably.

"He's a pest, not a pet," he reminded her again. Though, he did feed the rat plenty when he came into the shop earlier.

"He's Jeremy," Ino pointed out. "And he's yours."

Ino would so tease him if she found out about that.

"He's not anyone's," Ichigo argued, taking a bite from his sandwich and he was cursing Jeremy as the rat apparently took his comment as the perfect timing to move over and beg from a piece of Ichigo's sandwich.

"Well," she said, giggling a lot more now. "He seems to disagree."

"He's wrong," Ichigo glared even more at Jeremy. "Shoo!"

Jeremy just sat on his hind legs and sniffed the air. "Stupid rat."

"Feed him," she said, leaning over to peek at Jeremy. "He looks so cute."

"He's begging. It's pathetic. Stop it," he told Jeremy and he took another bite.

Jeremy wriggled his nose and looked even more cute.

"Come on," she wheedled. "It's adorable."

"No, it's not," he said stubbornly. It didn't stop him from breaking off a piece of the sandwich and handing it over to the rat. "So you'll stop," he stressed.

Jeremy didn't care about the distinction either way, he had beef sandwich.

And that was all that mattered.

"Awww," she said, grinning at him. "See? Isn't it cute?"
