Caritas [Saturday evening]

Robin was not wearing her Robin Sparkles regalia longer than she needed to. Which was for the obligatory performance.

So, for right now, the wig and graffiti denim jacket were tucked away, and Robin herself, brunette and irritable-looking as ever, was behind the bar and eyeing a bottle of Johnnie Walker.

"Can I have a chocolate milk, please?" Alvin asked, giving what he knew was his most charming smile.

The high pitched, squeaky voice he couldn't help.

Robin really should have been used to this kind of thing by now. "...are you a mouse?"

"I'm a chipmunk," Alvin replied, rolling his eyes. "Alvin, of Alvin and the Chipmunks? We're bigger than Mickey Mouse!"

"You haven't done too well in Canada," she said almost apologetically, getting the chocolate milk. "Or I'm older than your target demo."

Alvin pouted. "You've really never heard of us? 'I still want a huu-la hooooop!'" he sang, then looked hopeful. "Anything?"

"...not really, sweetie, but like I said, Canada," she said, shrugging. "I mean, we're like ten years behind everyone."

"Also, it's cold there," Alvin pointed out helpfully as he took a drink from his chocolate milk. "Dave would be soooo mad to find out we're in a bar," he confided.

"...is Dave your dad?" she wondered.

Oz's face didn't betray much surprised, nor did his tone. But he was indeed, very surprised to see a giant (comparitively) talking chipmunk.

"Hey." he nodded.

"Hi!" Alvin replied. "Want an autograph?"

"Sure." Oz agreed. He grabbed a napkin from the bar. "You here for the con?"

"You bet!" Alvin said. "I'm here with my brothers Simon and Theodore." He pointed out the two chipmunks surrounded by radio squirrels. "You?"

"Oz." Someday he might outgrow the nickname, but not yet. "I play bass."

"I'm the lead singer," Alvin said. "Simon plays guitar and keyboard, Theodore plays the drums. What kind of music do you play?"

Hey! A fellow non-human! And though there was a resemblance, he didn't appear to be a Muppet.

"Hi! I'm Robin. Are you here for the convention?"

"Of course!" Alvin said. "We go every year!"

Robin had no idea who Alvin was, but didn't think that should be mentioned.

"Can I have your autographs?"

"You only need mine," Alvin said. "I'm the most important."

He reached for a napkin and scrawled a giant A--like the one on his shirt--onto it. "There!"

"Thanks! I can't wait to hear you play."

"Look, Boo!" Minsc nudged his hamster (who was a little damp from splashing around in the water he was supposed to be drinking). "Chipmunk! Hullo, chipmunk!"

He gave the other rodent a wave.

"I'm Alvin!" Alvin said in a high squeaky voice. "Hi, Boo! Hi...man with Boo!"

"Minsc!" he offered. "Man with Boo is Minsc!"

"You speak very well for a chipmunk," he added, with a respectful nod. "It is good to meet you, Sir Alvin. That explains the A!"

"It's because I'm the star of Alvin and the Chipmunks!" he proclaimed. "So people should know I'm important."

"Oh!" said Minsc, sounding very impressed. "I agree! That does the job pretty nicely; I knew you were an important rodent the second I saw you. I've got a keen eye for that. Right, Boo?"

"Boo," he added, leaning in toward Sir Alvin to impart upon him this very important information, "is a giant miniature space hamster, you see. Very important, too."

"Wooooooow," Alvin said, looking Very Impressed. "I've never met one of those!"
