Caritas [Saturday evening]

Robin was not wearing her Robin Sparkles regalia longer than she needed to. Which was for the obligatory performance.

So, for right now, the wig and graffiti denim jacket were tucked away, and Robin herself, brunette and irritable-looking as ever, was behind the bar and eyeing a bottle of Johnnie Walker.

"Kind of," Triela nodded. "She's fine with most pistols, and can hold out for quite a while against most military weapons." Triela grinned, "But if she ever needs to take someone out back where she's from, we figured out how to do that too."

Disturbing subject is still disturbing. Even if necessary. "Probably more likely than not," Dinah said, her voice subdued. "Those are not good people in charge back there."

"That's the impression I was getting, yeah." Karla hadn't really given Triela many details, but it wasn't like she was stupid.

"Anyway. Glad she's checking in with you for that." Which reminded Dinah. "Are you going back to the Clinic, soon? And not to see Ino?"

Triela blinked, taking a silent moment to consider that. "I can. If... you think it's a good idea." The last time hadn't gone spectacularly well, after all.

"I do, Triela." Maybe they could find a way to modify the Conditioning, though she'd never say that, even if that had been a secret hope for months. "At the least? They can keep you stable, and out of pain, if you have to go back to Italy after you get hurt here. I know talking to Ino was rough, but." Dinah blew out a breath. "I'll go with you if you want. And I don't want them hurting you on accident, of all stupid things, if you get knocked out. They should know what they're dealing with if you end up unconscious there."

Triela thought about it. She knew that left to her own devices she'd put it off forever. So... "Tomorrow maybe? Or sometime early next week."

"Monday maybe? Or Tuesday?" Dinah offered. Whatever day it was that Ino wasn't on-call. "That work?"

"But tonight, music!" Dinah cheered, then waved to Tino. "A Coke with absolutely no alcohol for my friend, please!"

"Thanks," Triela grinned. She took the glass and eyed it quietly. Even with the request she was hesitant to take any chances.

"Want me to be your taster?" Dinah offered. "I don't promise I can detect trace amounts, but if it's anything more than a teaspoon..."

"Thanks again," Triela nodded as she slid the glass across the bar. "Trace amounts are probably safe."

Dinah took a sip, and only tasted the sweetness of Coke, no booze in evidence. "It's safe." She put it back down for Triela. "And further proof that they do a good job washing the glasses here."

Triela took the glass back and sipped it experimentally herself. "I don't drink much Coke," she said after a moment. It was so... sweet.

"It's got caffiene in it. Like coffee," Dinah offered, then frowned. "That won't make you sick either, will it?"

"Not if I'm careful." She'd just drink half the glass. "Too much and it'd be a toss-up."

Dinah watched her, trusting Triela to know her limits, but offered, "It's maybe half as much caffiene as a cup of coffee. Just so you know."

Triela nodded. "I'm pretty good at telling how much of something I'm ingesting. I sort of had to get sensitive to that sort of thing."

She tried to remember about this, and said, "Wasn't there something about... tolerance testing? Chocolate, and other stuff?"

"It's hard to do anything like that on my own. Part of my Conditioning is for self-preservation." She shrugged, "I've got a few tentative numbers from the Agency, but there's no telling how precise they are."

And again Dinah got reminded about how much the Agency sucked. Because they'd made Triela so she couldn't take some chances or have some kinds of fun, and couldn't even tell her to what extent. "Ahh." She shook her head. "Any time you need me to taste-test, let me know. Although I like every kind of spicy thing in existence. And I ate gagghhh just to say I did."

"Spicy isn't a problem," Triela grinned. "Though I tend to prefer... subtler flavors myself."
