Robin was not wearing her Robin Sparkles regalia longer than she needed to. Which was for the obligatory performance.

So, for right now, the wig and graffiti denim jacket were tucked away, and Robin herself, brunette and irritable-looking as ever, was behind the bar and eyeing a bottle of Johnnie Walker.

"Mmm. Although Anthony Stark is my age, and I'm rather sure is at MIT doing genius-type things," Emma drawled, looking him over. "This is one of those time-things, isn't it?"

Still, it was someone from home, and Emma couldn't help being fascinated.

"It is. You get used to them here."

No you didn't.

"I'm pretty sure I've already graduated," Tony replied. "I think that happened around your age."

"At sixteen? Now I feel like an underachiever," Emma sighed. "I recently moved away from Boston, so I haven't been following the local society pages quite as often. Should I offer my belated congratulations?"

"Seventeen, actually," Tony corrected. "I used to be much better at guessing ages."

"Still close," she laughed. "I'll be seventeen this year."

"I'll take that as a compliment, since I tend to avoid my own age group like the plague, unless they prove themselves interesting." Mostly because all the boys thought about was sex, and the girls cared about was boys. Dull.

Oh, the hardship of being far smarter than your peers...

Tony snorted in amusement. "You get used to it or just have fun elsewhere."

Like teaching assistants.

"Sadly, I'm rather easy to entertain; my idea of fun is the business section," Emma said dryly, waving down Tino for another refill. "Or tormenting people."

"Same thing, really."

"I find building works for me." Then again, most of his brain was focused on solving problems with flight, weight distribution, weapons, power systems...

"I would assume that's why you went to MIT. Are at MIT. Something," she replied, waving one hand. "I am not going to try and bend my brain around the proper verb and adjective forms for time differentials."

"Try figuring out how it's even possible," Tony replied, downing his fresh glass before Tino even had time to leave and waving for a new one.

"I want what he's having," Emma informed Tino haughtily. No, she hadn't finished her martini yet (second? third? whatever), but that wasn't going to stop her.

"I don't care how it's possible," she continued, "I just want to know if I can safely invest based on what I learn here, and not cause the world to explode or whatever."

"Scotch on the rocks," Tony prompted for her. "I wouldn't look too closely in stock tips. Almost everyone I've met who knows me seems... to know a different me."

"Did you talk to the unbalanced man in the red bodysuit too?" Emma asked sympathetically. "He seems to think he knows me."

Tony frowned for a moment as he puzzled together who that was. "Ah, the man seeing our esteemed mayor. No. I haven't had the pleasure."
