Caritas [Saturday evening]

Robin was not wearing her Robin Sparkles regalia longer than she needed to. Which was for the obligatory performance.

So, for right now, the wig and graffiti denim jacket were tucked away, and Robin herself, brunette and irritable-looking as ever, was behind the bar and eyeing a bottle of Johnnie Walker.

Ed arrived towards the end of the performance, but not too late to hear some of it. He stood off to the side and tried to catch Wendy's eye.

Wendy's eye was caught. She made her way over to Ed, still clapping.

Ed realised he looked out of place not clapping, so he joined in until Wendy was close by. "What's going on?" he said loudly over the noise.

Wendy pointed towards the stage. "That's Tyler. My version too."

In case the slightly dorky grin wasn't a clue.

Looking up at the stage, a sense of realisation and dread set in. Tyler was handsome and, if one was inclined that way (or even not really inclined that way), one might even think he was adorable. Or sexy. It was a bit of both really. "Should I have brought my sword?" Not that it would have been any good in Caritas.

"He doesn't know about the sex pollen," Wendy said quickly. "I figure it would be too hard to explain."

Not that some small shallow part of her wouldn't mind the idea of Ed and Tyler fighting. Shirtless. Maybe in oil.

"So we're going to tell him about what happened without explaining that part?" It hadn't even occurred to Edmund that Tyler might just not be told what happened. Knight.

"Haven't told him about the sex pollen, or anything that resulted from it." It wasn't that Wendy liked the idea of lying to Tyler, but she could recognise when it was pragmatic.

"If you think that's best," Ed replied, not sounding terribly convinced.

"You know how I mentioned that my life is incredibly complicated even without a potential kid running around?" Wendy said. "This is one of those complications."

Edmund nodded, not fully understanding, but respecting that he really shouldn't make Wendy's life any more complicated. "I still feel badly," he admitted. "Is there any chance he'd punch me if given the chance without knowing why he should?"

"Probably not," Wendy replied. Then that small shallow part added. "I guess you could always try him though."

"Would it make things more complicated for you?"

Wendy thought about it. "Probably not too much more than it already is," she admitted.

Since someone had told Tyler she was in Nepal. She was blaming Ida.

"Then I should at least try," Ed decided and set off towards the stage in an effort to meet Tyler.

Tyler had noticed Edmund talking with Wendy, so he grinned at him as he got off the stage. "Hey Wendy's friend."

"Hello Wendy's boyfriend," Ed replied. "Your music was good." It was the best way he could think of to start off a conversation at such short notice.

"Thanks," Tyler said. "I try my best."

"I'm Edmund, by the way." Yes, he fully intended to go through with this, he was just working up to it.

"Tyler," he said, extending his hand. "Nice to meet you, Edmund."

"Likewise." Not really. Well, maybe under different circumstances. "I have an odd request, if you're open to it."

"This isn't anything kinky, is it?" Tyler asked. "Because I'll have to check with Wendy if it is."

That definitely wasn't the reaction Edmund had been expecting. "Nnnno?" he replied. There was uncertainty in his voice. "I was going to ask you to hit me. Punch me in the face, really," he explained.

To be honest that sounded kind of kinky to Tyler. "You want me to punch you?"

"It would honestly make sense if I could explain it to you, but I can't. You would be doing me a great service if you just punched me."
