Fandom Fight Club, Atlas Gym. Sunday Evening [7.5]

It was the start of another semester, which meant the rules were once again displayed prominantly on the doors to the gym.
Rules of Fandom Fight Club
1. What happens here, stays here. We can't keep the squirrels out, but if somebody tells you something on the mat, you don't repeat it off the mat.
2. No weapons or powers unless everyone knows in advance and is fighting within their grouping.
3. No shoes.
4. If someone says "stop" or goes limp, the fight is over.
5. Two people to a fight.
6. Fights go on as long as they have to.
7. No tourists. If you need to take a week to see what this is like, cool, but no coming back just to watch. You wanna watch, get a TV; here, everybody fights.
8. No fighting if you're sick or injured. You wanna screw up your body, you do it on your own time.
9. The organizers reserve the right to remove you from the club at any time for violation of these rules.

"Good evening," Ghanima said cheerfully as people arrived, Tyler standing beside her. "For anyone lurking in the back that is new, welcome to Fandom Fight Club. The purpose of this group is catharsis and self-improvement through unarmed combat. There is absolutely nothing wrong with therapeutic violence - no matter what the armchair shrink of the week says - and this place is here to provide you with that option."

"Since yesterday was a holiday and today all the students are moving to the cabins, we're skipping the randomly assigned fights. We don't want to put anyone on the floor who is not capable of performing at their best."

"So find a new friend, and hit them. Those of you who want to work on your skills, you know where to find me. Now shoo."

This time Leto just remained completely still, eyes on Triela as he smiled mischievously.

That smile sort of pissed her off. Stupid Leto and his stupid smile. She rushed forward with a straight punch at his face, but that was a feint to cover her knee slamming in toward his stomach.

The knee would have hit him if he hadn't decided to move out of the way. Dodging to one side, the movement too fast to notice, he ended up behind Triela and tried to wrap an arm around her neck.

In close like that might actually give her an advantage because it made it easier to connect. Her hands rose up to grab at his arm and she grinned savagely. If she could just get a solid grip on his arm she could make a decent attempt to throw him, and at the very least she wouldn't have to worry about him dodging.

She hoped.

When Triela grabbed his arm and tried to throw him, Leto let her, putting his own energy into it while clinging to her neck. If he hit the floor so would she.

Hitting the floor was just fine with her. A lot of her trouble with fighting stemmed from the fact that other people were good at avoiding her attacks. That was because she was pretty obvious, really, but it was still her primary problem.

And that meant that once she was in close, especially if she had something to hold onto, she could land more hits. And Triela was built to hit hard.

Which she would do just as soon as her vision stopped being blurry. Give her a second or two.

Leto was expecting that, and he guessed that she could withstand quite a lot of damage. His advantage was really when they both were on their feet, as he could move faster, but he too was stronger than his size would imply. So, while Triela was still trying to focus, he tried to hold her down on to the floor.

While he was strong he wasn't too heavy to lift, and Triela could lift a small car without too much trouble. At least she could if she could get enough leverage.

She shifted under him, trying to get an arm or a leg into a decent lifting position without letting go of him. Because if she let go he might be able to get back to his feet.

This was turning into some kind of wrestling. As she didn't let him go, Leto resorted to trying to hold her down.

Triela was both strong and rather squirmy. She tried pulling on the arm she still had a grip on while sliding the other direction. If she could roll him off of her then she should be in a pretty good position to hit him a few times.

Leto tried to get back on to his feet, but her grip on his arm made it difficult. With his free hand he aimed a punch across her knuckles, not sure if it would work.

There was very little elegance involved in this fight, he noted.

[I might not have time for that many more pings today]

Re: Open Sparring

Triela, truth by told, wasn't a very elegant fighter. And in a lot of ways she didn't have to be. His punch struck home, but her knuckles were reinforced like the rest of her skeleton so she didn't really feel the hit.

"Nice try," she grinned savagely as she twisted, trying to twist his arm into some sort of lock, but she didn't really know what she was doing, so it was a toss-up whether it would work or not.

[We can continue with SP or find a place to end this soon? Because I'm pretty sure Leto can just take her out whenever he wants if he's willing to get serious.]

This was getting nowhere. Leto attempted to getting to his feet by pulling Triela with him. Perhaps he should stop playing?

[end soon perhaps? I'm leaving on Thursday and will be busy until then.]

Triela's enhancements made her heavier than she looked, but she was still a skinny little girl so she wasn't unliftable. She struggled, trying to kick Let's legs out from under him before he could get to his feet. Anything to keep her advantage on the ground.

[Sounds good!]

Leto kept her kicks away from his legs, grinning at Triela. Then he made a sudden twist with his arm, attempting to get out of her grasp and moving away.

She was strong, but she wasn't expecting that twist. And the move gave him all the leverage to get out of her grip. But she held on for too long and she was off-balance as he pulled away from her.

Quickly Leto kicked against her legs, then followed up by two punches against her stomach. He moved fast, without holding back.

Already off-balance, the kicks kept Triela too unstable to defend herself. Both the punches slammed home hard enough to knock the breath out of her and she slipped to her knees as she tried to get some air into her lungs.

Leto wasn't going to give her time for that, if he could avoid it. He spun around and aimed a kick against her stomach, hopefully hard enough to send her backwards on to the floor.

Re: Open Sparring

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Her entire body bent around his foot as she went over backwards. She didn't even have enough air to gasp. Triela lay there for twenty or thirty seconds trying to remember how to breathe.

Slowly, Leto walked over to her and offered her a hand. He wasn't going to humiliate her by asking if she was ok. The point of a fight was not to be ok.

Re: Open Sparring

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Once she could focus again she eyed his hand. Then she pushed herself to her feet without taking it. She was fine. Didn't need his help.

Triela managed, barely, to give him a small nod. She hated to lose, and she'd definitely lost this one.

He gave a short nod, then backed away. "Thank you for the spar," Leto said, then turned around and left the mat.

"Sure," she bit out.

Triela managed to wait until his back was turn before glaring furiously. It wasn't really his fault he'd taken her out so convincingly, but that didn't make her any less pissed. And he was the most convenient target for that anger.
