Somewhere in Town, Saturday Morning
Though she did not work on Saturdays, Kris was still up early. It was a nice day and she wanted to take advantage of it. The best way to do that, in her opinion, was to go horseback riding. She certainly was not expecting anything weird to occur on her way to the Gig. Well, nothing weirder than usual.
She was going to be mistaken.
[for a few more wee ones, but open to all]

She was so relieved when she spotted her mother. "Hey Mom. Where are we?"

"Uh...well, I'm on my way to another stable right now," she told the girl. "We can visit those horses instead. So, have I ever mentioned a place called Fandom to you? Ever?"

Maybe this was a good sign. In some universe she was with Junior and they had a little girl and Wildfire was in their life. She couldn't help smiling.

Kris would have responded, but their conversation was interrupted.
"Hi Mom!" This time, it was a little boy wandered over, hugging her.

Kendra gave the boy a suspicious look. "No. Who are you?"
"I'm Junior...well, my real name is Matthew like my dad, but everyone calls me Junior...like Dad's best friend," he replied.
And that would be Kris facepalming. A lot.

Junior glared. "That's what I just said. Wait, who are you?"
no subject
That seemed to be enough to prevent a fight. For now.
It was going to be a long weekend, though.
Seems that triangle of doom was never going to escape her.

It was something to take her mind off the rather traumatic radio incident from last night, which had by the way knocked any remembrance of what happened after prom around here out of her head.
Anyway, she certainly wasn't expecting to run into anyone . . .

...Okay, so they'd been imaginary nefarious criminals, and he'd actually started out looking for his parents before getting sidetracked, but details.
He'd just turned in the Terrible Horrible Cookie Thief to the 'thorities when he spotted. "Moooooooom!" he ran over, skidding to a stop mere inches from Lacey. "Hi!"
no subject
Absolutely not, because it had been closer to two inches. Please, like she could jump.
"I'm sorry, I'm not -- who are you looking for?"
no subject
no subject
Yes, Lacey, that would work so well on your kid.

...walking down the street in their direction. Coincidence, or a refined sense of dramatic timing?
Both?
In any case, Buttons went tearing off to intercept him, going so fast that he managed to trip over his shoelaces. Luckily for him, he managed to turn a tumble into a barrel roll, skidding to a stop at Jake's feet wearing an expression of 'I meant to do that'.

"To see you... Dad."
Wait, wait, WHAT? "What did you just call me?"
"Dad, duh. Dad."
"This can't be happ- I'd remember having a kid. I know I would." Did Mal know about this? Oh man, he was never gonna hear the end of it, if that were the case. Hadn't he said something about how he was lucky there weren't lots of little-hims running around, once? Lord God.

"Jake!" she said in a high-pitched voice-cracking nervous giggle. "HihowareyoudidanybodywarnyouaboutthisIcompletelyforgotbythewaythislittleboysayshe'sours?"
English, Lacey. English.
Normal people En -- oh. Right.
