Graduation Weekend Brunch | Early Afternoon | Sunday | May 2

With the ceremony completed and the graduated officially done with their high school careers, a brunch had been planned to celebrate the occasion and allow graduates, their guests, and the other inhabitants of the island to enjoy some good food and good conversation outside. The weather was warm and the sky was clear.

Fraser had been busy helping set up since the early morning hours. Apparently, Dean Stinson had gone a little overboard with some of the food, particularly the cake. The huge sheet cake arrived via truck and, where Fraser thought he'd be able to carry it, ended up having to use a forklift to get it to the park. From there, it took several people to lift the cake onto a table of its own. It was that big. Fraser hoped everyone enjoyed and hoped everyone was prepared to take a lot of cake home.

There were also several other tables of food and drinks, ready to be enjoyed. There were tables and chairs situated around the park, covered by tents to keep it from becoming too warm.

And there was cake. Please don't forget the cake.

[Mingling | Food | Tables and Chairs | Edges of the Park | OOC | OCD is up! Post is open to EVERYONE! Have fun!]

Arthur shot him a glance from between his eyelids; he knew well enough it was a cliche.

"Likewise," he said, however. Sometimes, cliches were the best fall-backs, and the most meaningful when it came down to it. "Although I hope it won't be too long."

Romeo looked somewhere over Arthur's head. "I hope the same. If it is, it'll be only because you're busy being extraordinary to fiddle with gadgets."

"I do spend quite a lot of my time being extraordinary," Arthur said, faux-thoughfully. "This is true."
withoutverona: (not a hero)

"And I know from experience how very distracting that can be," Romeo said, trying not to grin. "It will give you more stories to tell next time I see you."

He was considering whether one hug would go completely amiss.

It depended on how masculine his approach was, really.

"I'll try to make sure I have plenty for you," Arthur promised him, partway sincere and partway utterly amused. "Lion heads and all."
withoutverona: (laughing)

"And I'll repay you with anecdotes about my latest mishaps trying to keep myself clothed and fed in Tokyo," Romeo answered. "Who knows, some day I might sit down to dinner and find a lion head on the plate in front of me."

Romeo had very bad luck decoding Japanese menus.

He rose and took a short step around to Arthur. "Let me give you a hug before you go back to being stoic." Not entirely masculine, but at least direct.
bitchprince: (and where did you come up with that one?)

Arthur shot him a dubious look.

And then laughed, because you sort of had to.

"If it'll soothe your delicate sensibilities about my departure," he allowed.
withoutverona: (not laughing at you rly)

"It'll stop me from dampening my pillow with tears tonight," Romeo said seriously, reaching out.

From Arthur's end, he was given an excessively masculine hug with as little truly sentimental touching as possible. "Try not to cry for any men now, Romeo."
withoutverona: (now that you mention it...)

"I shall take those words of wisdom from the prince of Camelot greatly to heart," Romeo said, with a slight bow of his head. "And ask that he do the same."

Arthur snorted. "Like that's likely," he said.

... shut up.

He was happy to let it all go fairly quickly.

"So how are matters in Tokyo?"
withoutverona: (kind of hating you)

"Normal. Bordering on dull." Romeo took the seat in front of his cake again, prodding it with a fork. "It's all classes, and taking to Yurika about work, and trying to learn decent Japanese. I don't mind it, but it shall never be home."

"I know the feeling. How much longer until you return to Verona?" Arthur asked, with some interest.
withoutverona: (Looking down)

"I have a year before I'm expected. The question is how soon Yurika can finish her project."

If she didn't ... Romeo wasn't going to borrow trouble. But he'd been away long enough.

He gave it a thoughtful nod. "I hope for your sakes it's soon."
