Graduation Weekend Brunch | Early Afternoon | Sunday | May 2

With the ceremony completed and the graduated officially done with their high school careers, a brunch had been planned to celebrate the occasion and allow graduates, their guests, and the other inhabitants of the island to enjoy some good food and good conversation outside. The weather was warm and the sky was clear.

Fraser had been busy helping set up since the early morning hours. Apparently, Dean Stinson had gone a little overboard with some of the food, particularly the cake. The huge sheet cake arrived via truck and, where Fraser thought he'd be able to carry it, ended up having to use a forklift to get it to the park. From there, it took several people to lift the cake onto a table of its own. It was that big. Fraser hoped everyone enjoyed and hoped everyone was prepared to take a lot of cake home.

There were also several other tables of food and drinks, ready to be enjoyed. There were tables and chairs situated around the park, covered by tents to keep it from becoming too warm.

And there was cake. Please don't forget the cake.

[Mingling | Food | Tables and Chairs | Edges of the Park | OOC | OCD is up! Post is open to EVERYONE! Have fun!]

"Yes, I am." Was she holding onto her time here quite hard? Maaaaybe. "Being a TA for one of the summer workshops."

"Oh good, you can keep an eye on Hannibal for us," his mother said, sounding pleased about that. "He's been talking about living in a tent or hitching across the country once the summer's over. I'd like him to change his mind."

His father nodded. "We'd typically give you The Talk but I don't think that's really needed. It sounds like you've been a pretty good influence on him even if he still bitches about his name every time he calls home."

"I can try," Angela allowed, shaking her head with a little amusement. "But I think I'd actually go for the whole traveling thing... Just not the 'live in a tent' part of it."

"There's nothing wrong with a tent," his father said, frowning a little but shaking it off. "It's getting back to nature, it's rustic. Just watch out for snakes."

Yeah, that didn't help.

Not really, no, and Angela wrinkled her nose at the idea of snakes in her bed.

"The cabins we have for the summer are close enough to nature for me," she said. "I can sit out in the evening, roast marshmallows and look at the stars... Then go find a real bed to actually sleep in." Compromise!

"That's how I feel about all that nature stuff too," his mother said, making a face. "My husband's just being difficult. I think that's what he gets for being cute."

Said husband laughed. Hey, he liked that label.

"Did you enjoy the graduation ceremony?" she continued. "We took a lot of pictures! We're going to post them on the internet and make a fortune off our son."

Not really.

"'Enjoy' might be taking it a bit far..." Angela wasn't so big on almost getting eaten by a chimera. "But I would enjoy getting hold of some of those pictures," she added with a hopeful grin.

"Some or all?" his mother asked. She was a caring provider, really. "Would Hannibal get all whiny if we gave them to you?"

She was getting them anyway.

"Probably." Which didn't deter Angela in the slightest. She was such a caring girlfriend, clearly.

"And I will take as many as you're willing to supply me with." There would probably be consequences to deal with from Hannibal for this, but she just didn't care.

"We'll send you copies," his mother promised because really, do you think she wouldn't? "You'll keep an eye on him this summer? I don't know when we'll get back down here so he'll be on his own. Getting him a leash might be helpful."

"I always keep an eye on him," Angela assured them. Well, technically not always... She didn't know where he was now, for example. But she assumed he was eating rather than causing trouble.

"But I'll have to think on the leash idea." Or, at least tease Hannibal about it later for the amusement factor.

"If you need any help, just let me know," his mother said, obviously pretty fond of the idea. "I'm always up for embarrassing my son. You think it would make me a bad mother but I birthed him, he can deal with it."

Special, special family.

"And we should let you get back to your day," she continued. "We've talked to you long enough to approve. Thank you for putting up with us."
