With the ceremony completed and the graduated officially done with their high school careers, a brunch had been planned to celebrate the occasion and allow graduates, their guests, and the other inhabitants of the island to enjoy some good food and good conversation outside. The weather was warm and the sky was clear.

Fraser had been busy helping set up since the early morning hours. Apparently, Dean Stinson had gone a little overboard with some of the food, particularly the cake. The huge sheet cake arrived via truck and, where Fraser thought he'd be able to carry it, ended up having to use a forklift to get it to the park. From there, it took several people to lift the cake onto a table of its own. It was that big. Fraser hoped everyone enjoyed and hoped everyone was prepared to take a lot of cake home.

There were also several other tables of food and drinks, ready to be enjoyed. There were tables and chairs situated around the park, covered by tents to keep it from becoming too warm.

And there was cake. Please don't forget the cake.

Sookie...already had a plate of just cake. Look, she'd been good and eaten healthy food first. She just didn't want to waste the cake.

"Save room," she advised, eyeing George's plate. "The cake's really good. And I'm pretty sure it's up to us to make sure that it gets eaten."

"I'll only get this plate o' food then," George decided, giving her a mischievous grin. "That yer first plate o' cake or was it so good ye came back fer more?"

"I'm on my first. We'll assess how I feel about being mobile for the rest of the afternoon before I go for cake-plate number two," Sookie decided. "Haven't seen you for a bit. How's things?"

"Tisn't a reason t'be mobile if ye stay down here all day," he pointed out. "An' things are good. Bit weird here wit'out insane classes t'go to, y'know? What about ye?"

"It's spring," she sighed, as though that answered the whole question. "I'm just fine. And don't you worry about those insane classes. It'll all start up again in a couple weeks. Summer classes are even weirder sometimes."

George grinned at the answer. "Ye like spring then? Or jus' hate winter a lot?"

"I don't do well in the cold," she explained, and then, remembering that George obviously knew about Bobby, raised an eyebrow and added, "I know, the irony is hilarious."

And now he had to laugh. "Twasn't goin' t'comment on it," he teased. "Seemed rude. Though - tis hilarious."

Sookie rolled her eyes good-naturedly. "How're things with Karla?" She privately thought a double-date was in order, but having never been on one (because clearly she was the only one of this foursome who wouldn't have?), she wasn't sure whether to broach the idea.

"She's not enjoyin' this weekend too much," George said, looking a little concerned. "But other than that, I'm thinkin' she's well. Twas her birthday Wednesday." ...which Sookie had not missed no, so he wasn't sure why he'd said that.

"Yeah, I was there," she reminded him with a grin. "What's wrong with this weekend, though?" she added with a touch of concern. "Just graduation blues?"

"Aye, jus' that," he agreed. "Things endin' an' all of it."

"Poor thing. At least it seems like not everyone's leaving right away," Sookie offered.
