With the ceremony completed and the graduated officially done with their high school careers, a brunch had been planned to celebrate the occasion and allow graduates, their guests, and the other inhabitants of the island to enjoy some good food and good conversation outside. The weather was warm and the sky was clear.

Fraser had been busy helping set up since the early morning hours. Apparently, Dean Stinson had gone a little overboard with some of the food, particularly the cake. The huge sheet cake arrived via truck and, where Fraser thought he'd be able to carry it, ended up having to use a forklift to get it to the park. From there, it took several people to lift the cake onto a table of its own. It was that big. Fraser hoped everyone enjoyed and hoped everyone was prepared to take a lot of cake home.

There were also several other tables of food and drinks, ready to be enjoyed. There were tables and chairs situated around the park, covered by tents to keep it from becoming too warm.

And there was cake. Please don't forget the cake.

Hinata laughed.

"Th-Then you tell them that it is the newest, boldest fashion statement and proceed about your day. Let them wonder."

Hinata would hide, mind, but it was easy enough to suggest something silly.

"I suppose I'll be lucky that a lot of the classes at University of the Amazon are outdoors or in tents," said Hoshi, laughing. "I don't know how I'd explain rain indoors."

"Science, of course," she said primly. "I h-hear they can do amazing things with it in some places."

"And they probably have amazing stuff like that in my time period," said Hoshi, chuckling. "It should all work out. I'm sad about leaving, but I am pretty excited about the future. It has all sorts of possibilities."

"As long as you keep in touch," she replied lightly. "Or else you might get stuck in one timeline."

"I'll be very careful to keep in touch," said Hoshi. "I wouldn't want to get stuck there permanently."

"I'm glad," she answered. "It would be very lonely, I would think, not being able to talk to someone about Fandom freely."

"Well, Joan and I are actually getting an apartment together, so I will have a place to go home to that still has someone from Fandom," said Hoshi.

"That's right," she said, flushing. "I do believe you said that before. My apologies for my mistake."

"Don't worry about it," said Hoshi, lauging. "Everyone keeps asking me what I'm going to do know that I've graduated that I've lost track of who I've told about my plans. We all seem to have the same worries and concerns."

"And they all just blend together," she said, sighing slightly. "It's a bit of a difficult time, I think, for a lot of people--even while being glad."

"At least I am staying for the summer. Otherwise, I would be freaking out, trying to talk to everyone and do everything while still packing to leave," said Hoshi.

"It would be terribly disorganized," she agreed, "and you'd always think of people who you missed and such after you left."

"I'm still worried about not spending enough time with my dad or Hurley," said Hoshi, laughing. "Hurley isn't ready to meet my dad, and Dad doesn't know about Hurley. It's required some balancing."

"Oh no!" she said, covering her mouth to keep a laugh in. "Perhaps you could split your days? Evenings with Hurley, afternoons with your dad?"

"That's been working so far. Dad and I eat an early dinner and then I meet Hurley later in the evening," said Hoshi. "But after Dad and Captain Archer both leave on Monday, I'm cooking dinner for Hurley."

Awwww.

"That's sweet of you," she said, smiling. "He'll appreciate that, surely."

"It's the least I can do," said Hoshi. "We're not really getting much couple time before he has to head home. That's the problem with waiting so long to really get together."

"I don't think it's a problem," she said softly. "You can't rush affection, you can only work with what it gives you."

"And there were so many complications along the way," said Hoshi. "The time really wasn't right until the year was almost over."

"But now time is in your hands," she said, smiling. "And it's up to you two to make it worth it."

"And we will be making the most of it," said Hoshi, grinning.
