With the ceremony completed and the graduated officially done with their high school careers, a brunch had been planned to celebrate the occasion and allow graduates, their guests, and the other inhabitants of the island to enjoy some good food and good conversation outside. The weather was warm and the sky was clear.

Fraser had been busy helping set up since the early morning hours. Apparently, Dean Stinson had gone a little overboard with some of the food, particularly the cake. The huge sheet cake arrived via truck and, where Fraser thought he'd be able to carry it, ended up having to use a forklift to get it to the park. From there, it took several people to lift the cake onto a table of its own. It was that big. Fraser hoped everyone enjoyed and hoped everyone was prepared to take a lot of cake home.

There were also several other tables of food and drinks, ready to be enjoyed. There were tables and chairs situated around the park, covered by tents to keep it from becoming too warm.

And there was cake. Please don't forget the cake.

"She's knows 'cake,' and 'cookie' now," Rory noted. "Let me rephrase: my mom should be so proud."

"I think she might be teaching her when we're not paying attention," Anakin said.

Because there was a lot of time when they weren't paying attention?

"In between our incessant, frantic phone calls?" Rory wondered.

Anakin grinned. "Perhaps she's doing it just to spite us. At least we don't have to worry about Juliet rebelling against us by turning to a life of eating tofu?"

"Juliet knows better than that," Rory said, plucking some cake out of the baby's curls. God only knew how it got there.

"We aren't spending this kind of time on her upbringing so she can decide to go vegan on us," Anakin declared. Sensitively.

"She won't. Grandpa Luke would be so sad, too," Rory noted.

"How could she tell?" Anakin teased.

"He would be sad," Rory replied. "Not just grumpy."

Anakin laughed and tried to steal a bit of Juliet's cake.

She frowned fiercely at him and he stopped immediately.

"Can't have that," he declared. "He might end our cheeseburger supply."

"And I might have to start cooking," Rory added, smiling at how freaking spoiled Juliet was.

"And then all the takeout places in Georgetown would go bankrupt and I'd feel terrible," he teased.

"And Juliet would cry," Rory added, "because she would never again have chocolate, even though it was her choice to give it up."

"And I'd rather her not cry," Anakin said. "Ever."

Because Rory wouldn't have noticed that in almost a year or something.

"Couldn't tell. Were you going to have more of her cake?" Rory asked sweetly.

"I can get my own piece," said a man who was the nightmare of an entire galaxy. "I don't need to steal hers."

Yes, he was cowed by a girl who couldn't walk yet.

"She was really protective of it," Rory noticed.

"And trying to explain that there is enough cake to build a tiny house for her from the leftovers isn't going to work," Anakin laughed. "She likes what she likes."

"...Juliet, would you like a little house of cake?" Rory asked, stretching out on her tummy to look at the baby better.

Juliet just put more cake ~~on her face~~ in her mouth and said, "Cakecakecake," again.

"I think that's a yes," Anakin said, tilting his head. "Her birthday party is going to be fun, huh?"

"I might already be planning it," Rory admitted.

"It has to be better than the one Jan had," Anakin, Father of the Year, proclaimed.

"Didn't I say I was planning it?" Rory pointed out.

Anakin laughed. "I love you."
