Mystery Sign Theater, Sunday

After getting a decent night's sleep at his place, Mitchell was up bright and early to direct the workers around the theater. Between the sleep and last night's visit to the Nest, he was in a reasonable mood, and not nearly as irritable as he often was coming back from Bristol.

"Christ, they got this straight out of a film, didn't they?" he said philosophically to the worker putting up the sign at the front. He was staring at the city in the distance.

The worker just shrugged.

"It feels like a double bill sort of day."

TODAY'S SHOWING:
Hungover 2
Edge Sprinter

Yes, all was well at the theater. For once.
vanillajello: (Idle talk.)

Kate showing up was inevitable, right? Checking up on the theater was a habit.

Checking up on the manager even moreso. "Long time no see, Mitchell."
vanillajello: (Rolling of the eyes.)

Her answer was a predictably dry drawl. "Sad. Depressing. Kind of unnecessary too, since Nathan is apparently immortal."

So, yeah.
vanillajello: (Tired of crap.)

"Yeah," she sighed, flopping down into a chair. "He showed up this Monday, entirely... as he was."
vanillajello: (Thinking about it.)

"He's not a vampire, he has a pulse." A beat. "yes, that was my first thought too. It's why I took my knife with me to see him. Apparently he's just immortal."
vanillajello: (My lip does this thing.)

"Yeah, well..." What could you do? SShe shrugged. "Apparently there was a storm or something."

She... hadn't really been listening to much of Nathan's babling, honestly.
vanillajello: (God's honest truth.)

"Well if he was, he didn't know it," Kate replied with a shrug. "'Cause seriously, that guy would have been bragging about it."
vanillajello: (Try again maybe I'll buy it.)

Kate rolled her eyes, then shook her head. "Yeah, can we please not talk about him dying again? Because even if the first time wasn't for good, it made for one of the shittiest weeks of my life."
vanillajello: (Cynicism personified.)

"Yeah, thanks," Kate replied, her tone not even approaching sincere. Dry was as good as it got. "Things busy in Bristol?"
vanillajello: (Might be silently judging you.)

"I see." Dry, dry, dry. "Eric tells me you're not planning on doing anything stupid."

Forgive her wanting to emphasize the word 'planning'.
vanillajello: (Really now.)

Kate met his vaguely offended look with a fairly neutral eyebrow raise. "Of course I went to the only person I knew might remember something useful."
vanillajello: (Might be silently judging you.)

"I'm not getting involved with anything, Mitchell," Kate replied, keeping her tone even. "I'm just making sure I don't get blindsided again."
vanillajello: (Talking to Ben.)

It was Kate's turn to look vaguely sort of offended. "Whenever you start vanishing off to Bristol all the time and getting all evasive about what you're doing," she pointed out, "that's usually a prelude to me getting blindsided."
vanillajello: (Cynicism personified.)

"I see," Kate replied, though no, she didn't, really. "And how's that been going?"
