Darling Summer Party!, Beach, Friday Evening

It had taken some doing to get a decent party together on an island currently off the coast of Atlantis, but the Darlings knew that all things were possible with enough money and a few well-placed tantrums from Juliet. And so the pre-Fourth of July summer fiesta came to be.

Chinese paper lanterns marked off a section of the beach, and a mix of popular music came from the DJ booth in one corner. A barbecue-themed buffet was set up in a tent, which also hosted a few small tables and chairs for anyone who needed to take a break.

Once the sun was all the way down, a special fireworks display was scheduled to go off -- just to add that special finishing frisson to the night.

"Definitely no complaints," Toby confirmed. "Nice shindig you've put together here," not that he'd known the party was Jeremy's doing (in part, anyway) until just now, with the question and the pleased-with-himself thoughts running through the other boy's head.
