The place was open tonight, and hopefully people had actually heard about or seen the signs for the Over 18 party. Otherwise... this was going to be lame, oops.

The bar was open in case anyone wanted to drink (imagine that), and the floor in the back room had been mostly cleared with the tables pushed back so people could mingle or eventually sleep if they ended up not wanting to trudge home later.

And there was a sign out.

There were..not holes, exactly. More like things he was safely navigating around. She could hear a kind of evasiveness in his tone, filled with things he wasn't saying.

"Naturally," Jono replied, lifting a shoulder slightly. "Graduate high school, see the world, right? I spent some time in Massachusetts with friends, visited London and wound up spending time with a pop star from back home. Hell, I even spent some time in Bavaria. The Alps are one hell of a sight at sunrise."

Big, gaping holes. And he was going to continue to neatly dance around them as much as he possibly could.

"Sounds like a lot of fun," Cindy said lightly. "Glad you had a few enriching experiences after you left school. I can imagine life after Fandom can sometimes require a bit of adjusting."

Presumably. Not always. Jono had been a hideous mess of ragged flesh and flame for a matter of months before coming to the island, after all.

Had he ever seen such a thing?
