Valentines Dance, Town Hall, Saturday Evening

The town hall had been transformed into a ballroom fit for a queen (and/or king. Or multiples thereof). The ceiling was resplendent in ribbons of royal purple, gold and white, and castle murals adorned the walls.

As they entered, tonight's guests were offered their choice of crown or tiara. Over by the photographer who doesn't have a thread because that's what happens when you post at 6:30 in the morning, there was a pair of thrones set up to really complete the theme.

And- of course there was glitter. Really, people, did you even need to ask?

Anyway, the doors were open, the punch was as of yet unspiked... welcome to your 2012 Valentines Ball, Fandom!

[ooc: ocd up! up early for timezones and because i was awake already anyway. second post will go up later if/when it's needed! here, have some links for great threading justice: arrival/mingling / punch and food / shadowy corners / chaperones / dance floor / ooc ]

"I did," Peter said lightly. "I almost went and returned it to you - god knows you'd appreciate it best out of anyone I know."

Also she was smart and reminded him of his sister and competent. So.

For that, Natalie granted him about half a brief smile. "Well, thanks for the thought," she said. "I got enough flowers of my own."

From the boyfriend, and from the mentor. It was more flowers than she'd ever gotten on a single day before.

"Imagine having to throw all of those out," Peter said, his eyebrows raising. "I'm glad you're the only one who had the thought."

Look, he didn't care overmuch about these things, okay?
whenshewasnice: (Straight up.)

Another eyeroll. "It's just two bouquets." Nevermind that it always hurt her sentimental side a little when flowers like that wilted and you had to throw them away. "Plus another one I'm likely to get next week."

There was a certain tradition in the family.

"Not exactly a huge burden on my housekeeping."
lockestheway: (peter: listening to you)

"You're a popular one," Peter commented. The idle thought that she was pretty - not a new one, but usually disregarded - passed by his mind.

Disregarding was a strong word for it this time, but he did ignore it.

"So I figure you're going to steal out of this social engagement early to enjoy your popularity," he added idly. "Flowery mess or no."

Natalie snorted. "Popular with my parents, a friend, and my boyfriend."

... Who she'd agreed to meet by the doors in a few moments so they could get the hell out of here, thinking about which made a shiver run down her spine.

"I'm basically on my way out, yeah."
lockestheway: (peter: hopeful)

"Have a decent night, then," Peter said idly. "I'll be here until some idiot spikes the punch, then I've got some work to get back to."

He was going to sex up world domination so good. Or Rebecca.
whenshewasnice: (Well that's something.)

Yeah, strikethrough, Natalie totally wasn't casting a significant look downpage or anything, at that comment.

Whatever, in the realm of things he and his fourth wall confined senses could perceive, she gave him a faint crooked smile. "Of course," she said. "Later, Peter."
