Valentines Dance, Town Hall, Saturday Evening

The town hall had been transformed into a ballroom fit for a queen (and/or king. Or multiples thereof). The ceiling was resplendent in ribbons of royal purple, gold and white, and castle murals adorned the walls.

As they entered, tonight's guests were offered their choice of crown or tiara. Over by the photographer who doesn't have a thread because that's what happens when you post at 6:30 in the morning, there was a pair of thrones set up to really complete the theme.

And- of course there was glitter. Really, people, did you even need to ask?

Anyway, the doors were open, the punch was as of yet unspiked... welcome to your 2012 Valentines Ball, Fandom!

[ooc: ocd up! up early for timezones and because i was awake already anyway. second post will go up later if/when it's needed! here, have some links for great threading justice: arrival/mingling / punch and food / shadowy corners / chaperones / dance floor / ooc ]

"I'm fine without punch. Maybe we could dance?" she offered, biting her lower lip. "I promise not to step on your toes -- Petra assured me that that's my only obligation, apparently." She smiled, adding, "Unless you want punch, of course...."

This wasn't that difficult, if she stopped thinking so hard about it for a moment or two. Of course, if she did that, her concentration waned and that hadn't been proving particularly conducive to intelligent conversation, either.

Intelligent conversation was way overrated. Especially when she started doing adorable things like lip-biting, and he found himself wanting to fan even more.

"Uh, no, no I'm good without punch," he decided. "And you know you're not actually obligated to do anything? Your Valentine's dance, you're allowed to do pretty much whatever you want at it."

That was actually a yes, dancing. Even if he forgot to actually say that, in the midst of his babbly.

"Obligation or not, I shall not tread on your feet," she assured him, glancing down and blushing. "I promise I am not quite that out of practice. Besides, Petra insisted I wear shoes that are like weapons," she added with a laugh, lifting her hem a little to show her heels. They were actually fairly low, but she was so used to her boots that they might as well have been stilts. "I might break your toes if I'm not careful."

There. Concentrating on stupid things like her feet kept her from finding his chivalry so distractingly attractive. Except she still did. Damn.

"My toes are really sturdy," he assured her. If nothing else, his shoes were, and even if she did step on them, and it did hurt, the chances were he wouldn't admit it. That chivalry, again.

"A uh, dance (http://fandomtownies.livejournal.com/6278511.html?thread=240624751#t240624751) then?"
