PROM! Community Center, Friday Evening [Part 1]

The collective wisdom of the Student Council this week pretty much boiled down to "body glitter is AMAZING", and that somehow translated to a space theme for prom. The ceiling was covered in twinkling lights, and there were glitter-drenched foam planets, moons and asteroids hanging in corners and above the dance floor and buffet.

There was glitter everywhere, of course, because "excellent focus" wasn't really a hallmark of anyone this week and vials of the stuff kept getting knocked over. There was also containers of body glitter on the tables for those who might not be sparkly enough yet and some slightly questionable artwork of scantily clad aliens with gravity-defying body parts to take pictures next to because teenagers under the effects of sex pollen made the best decorating choices.

The food trended toward the chocolate-covered and supposedly aphrodisiac (with plenty of edible glitter added in, of course) and the punch was unspiked for the moment.

The lights were down low, there were plenty of dark corners, the music was a little Marvin Gaye-heavy and the chaperones, frankly, had their work cut out for them tonight.

Atton... honestly shouldn't be here. He should be on the mainland, getting drunk and sleeping with people he'd never met before. But yesterday's run-in with Sia had eroded the last of what precious little morality he'd been clinging to of late. With frustration beating in the back of his head and his mood slipping closer to its old dark sided edge, he was...

Well, he kind of wanted to bask in this before he got rid of it.

So there he was, in his usual leather-pants-white-linen-shirt-jacket-and-fingerless-gloves ensemble, looking more intense than usual and practically making a beeline for the punch.

Peter was in a much better mood than he had been in for some time - or at least, he was in a good enough mood that he was unlikely to start disparaging American presidents without prompting.

He was wearing a really nice suit. But then he usually did.

Maddie's dress (http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/mummyspromdate/53986881/485/485_1000.jpg) actually wasn't tighter or more revealing than usual, and she really wasn't sure she should be here. And yet she was here anyway.

And she was both hoping no one talked to her and hoping everyone talked to her and ugh, how was this not over yet?

Last night's interlude with Jim left Bay feeling much less twitchy than she'd felt all week -- and weren't you glad you asked? Her black dress was short and fitted, but Bay probably would have worn something very similar no matter what state her hormones were in.

She scoped out the room, trying to look mysterious yet approachable and not like some girl who didn't have a prom date.

Alec's suit was the normal, non-revealing kind. Good to hear, right?

And he was doing a very good job keeping from jittering, too. Even though everyone here (especially his date) was really, really attractive. Alec thought that was pretty impressive.

Emily was dressed to kill. So much for trying not to do something stupid.

Her only worry was that all the nice dark spots would be already taken.

She was going to look around for familiar faces as she walked in though.

Because she still had standards, by gum. She glanced around at the very, very attractive other people in the room.

Some people would assume that coming to prom would involve oh, say, sleeves. Or shirts of some kind.

Those people were not Cade.

He was wearing tuxedo pants and a black vest. And shoes. And that was about it.

Please, like Stephanie's self-esteem levels were high enough for her to willingly pick out something super-sexy even under the current island circumstances.

Though while her dress was floor-length, it was also pretty form-fitting. And had, for her, a . . . fairly adventurous neckline, let's say that.

Hanna felt confident in her little purple dress (http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l165/Landslide418/Miscellaneous/Fandom%20High/Random/hannaprom2013_zpsf9c186b7.jpg) with silver straps. Prom was just another perfect excuse for her to get dressed up. Though she never really needed a reason for that.

It helped that she was in a really good mood.

Ryan had planned on being anti-social once again and skipping the prom. But after the week she'd had, she really needed a chance to cut loose on the dance floor. Hopefully a night of dancing would help take off the edge of the frustration she had been feeling all week.

She was wearing one of the sexier dresses Caroline had foisted on her before she left and feeling particularly... hot.

Kenzi had thought of going retro, but she loved the skirt on her dress (http://ouchmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/ksenia_solo_ouch_magazine_june_2012_2zVN4bu.sized_.jpg) too much to sacrifice it to authenticity. So she was swishing the folds out of the way of her boots, grinning like a cat with a canary in one paw as she walked in on Toby's arm.

Chocolate covered stawberries covered in edible glitter, anyone? No? How about some punch? Oysters? Honey dipped figs? Bananas?

Please don't do anything gross with the bananas.

Atton took a glass of punch and then dumped some alcohol in his glass while nobody was looking. He'd probably just do away with the intermediary soon enough and spike the entire bowl, but that could come later, when the chaperones settled.

Peter grabbed a plate of figs, oysters and bananas - and quickly proved that he was quite possibly one of very few people who could pull off eating those foods at a high school prom without looking like a complete idiot.

This mostly just served to make him stand out, which could be good, could be bad.

Victor blinked at the spread for a moment -- it wasn't often he saw StuCo so obviously thinking with their groins. Then he grabbed a plate.

He steered clear of the obvious aphrodisiacs (not hard -- oysters were gross and he could eat bananas anytime) but took a couple chocolate-covered strawberries and a glass of punch he hoped somebody had spiked by now.

The glitter wasn't all that bad. She did not see the oysters coming though, that had been a pretty well timed touch of the Student Council. Damn you guys.

One way or another, Emily ended up eating a banana, much like a normal person would, thank you very much.

Well, she might be hurrying up a bit.

"I should probably warn you that I'm not exactly a great dancer," Cade began as he brought Bay onto the dance floor with him.

But he was a big fan of body contact, so this would work until he could spot an empty corner somewhere.
