Graduation Brunch, the Park, Early Sunday Afternoon

It was a Fandom tradition that went back... well, at the very least several years: graduation brunch, offering visitors and locals alike the best food available on the island.

There was a banner that stretched from tree to tree declaring CONGRATULATIONS, CLASS OF 2013 in big glittery letters. There were tables full of ~~moddable~~ food and drink. There were happy decorations in blue and yellow and a long series of picnic tables for people to sit at and mingle.

And then there was the bit at the end where Mayor Swanson was barbecuing an entire pig's worth of food. Uh... Yeah.

"I don't know that one, I don't think. Have I heard you sing it?"

Robin shook his head. "I've only sung it once, last year. When um, when Mr. Henson died (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRSptCfn5WY)."

"Ah! Your friend..." She nibbled at a cookie as she pondered that. "Wow, that's a big thing, robin. Putting that song in front of people, to be judged. Are you sure you're okay with that?"

"It's something I have to get used to, if I'm going to be a performer. I mean, for real. So far I've sung or acted for my friends, or for my family. But someday my audience might be complete strangers."

He'd been too young to really be aware of any stage fright when he'd acted in The Frog Prince, and on the Muppet Show he was surrounded by his uncle's friends. Sure the theater audience had been strangers, but he'd mostly had the sense of being over-looked there.

Momoko nodded. "True but isn't that song, you know, important? To you, I mean. I don't know if I could do that. You're being brave!"

"I'm hoping that the importance will help my performance." he said. "But thank you."

"It's true! I totally couldn't do it!" And she'd been on tv before! "You'll let me know how it goes, right? Not just your grade, how it really goes?"

"Of course." he promised. "If it goes well I'll want to tell everyone, and if it doesn't, I'll need plenty of shoulders to cry on." He was kidding, he'd be okay if it didn't go well. Well, he'd get over it.

Momoko snorted and punched him lightly in the arm. "You won't be crying; you can't possibly do that badly. You're too good."

Frogs weren't equipped to blush, but Momoko was no doubt familiar enough with his body language to tell he was doing the equivalent. "Thank you. So what about you? Any plans for the summer?"

Momoko's grin dimmed a little. "Hopefully? Karla's going to try to take back her country and I'm hoping she's going to let me help. She's said no before, but I'm hoping to change her mind."

Woah, heavy. "Would motivational music help with morale?" He could put together a few mix-tapes he was sure."

"It would totally help me! But I'm not sure how much technology Karla is allowing her people to have if it's not life-saving, you know? I'll totally ask. I know Jono likes music, so there's totally going to be music."

"I could provide sheet music if actual recordings would be out of line." Robin suggested. Muppets, with a few exceptions were less fighters than entertainers. But through the ages they had proven themselves invaluable at keeping up morale.

"Hmmm. Music for me, but sheet music would be fine for Jono and the troops, I think? Simple ones, though. I don't know if they even have pianos yet."

She chuckled. "It can be like a test for you! Make modern motivational music work for a medieval world!"

"Ooh yeah! I did something similar when Umbrage was in charge." Where he took pop and punk songs and slightly altered the lyrics so they were more about being a frog in an unjust world.

"Perfect! As long as it doesn't interfere with your schoolwork, of course." Momoko tsked. "It's totally not worth that."

"I doubt it would. I'll be looking for music anyway."

"Then okay," she grinned. "Now, tell me everything you've been up to! It's been forEVER!"

Well that covered a lot of ground didn't it. He told her about performing with Pepe and Anastasia in the New York Halloween parade, about getting snowed in at the dorms, though that was primarily because he was from Florida, and also because he was much smaller than most people and Muppets.

He told her about Pepe flirting with girls in central park before being chased off by geese. And he told her about going to a goth club with Ana. Modestly talking about the fact that he had a bit of following among the goth community.
