Parents' Weekend Brunch, Sunday Morning to Afternoon, The Park

It was another brightly sunny day today, with a few clouds scattered across the sky above, and the flamingos were out in full force, congregating by the edge of the pond to watch the events that were going on in the park today. When the park got busy, food tended to be involved in great quantities, and several of the large pink birds were hoping that maybe somebody would throw some shrimp their way.

Wouldn't you like to, parents and assorted other visitors? Ignore the glitter and the people food, stop talking to those ridiculous teenagers you were here to see, and come pay attention to the birds!

Or don't. It wasn't like the flamingos could do anything about it, anyway.

Sparkle was in a pretty darn good mood today, after spending a weekend hanging out with Lewis. He'd dragged him to the brunch, promising that there would be coffee, and now they were babbling back and forth at one another about the food and the weather and all sorts of things.

It was possible that Sparkle was just trying to keep Lewis from asking too many questions about why there were flamingos this far north, and why those flamingos were staring at them.

By the third day, Karl had begun to grasp the enormity of the amount of functions this island apparently indulged in. He was fairly certain this was the third time in as many days he'd managed to find free food somewhere-- he was beginning to grow used to it.

He looked around, wry smile plastered seemingly permanently on his face.

Probably much to a few people's chagrin, Maryse was still around, and still looking very elegant and serious as she studied the gathered crowd. Possibly playing Spot the Downworlder. But really mostly just watching for the sake of watching, a glass of juice in her hand.

And quietly wondering whether Max would also have ended up here in a few years.

Nathan was pretty sure that coming out to the brunch wasn't going to initiate any further attacks by some sort of animal. Whoever that was had made their point.

His injuries were completely healed up and he'd gotten a new shirt so he looked like nothing happen. Well, besides his eyes darting around just to make sure no one was watching him.

Travis had spent most of his night sulking. But, he felt a little better this morning. His sulking had moved into moping which, he guessed, was a little better.

He'd grabbed some water and was mostly just standing around, trying to figure out how to make things right with Kyle before he left.

Reno had done the office hours thing like a big boy yesterday, and had even bothered to look almost like a professional about it, if you squinted. Sure, he was always wearing a suit, but he figured that had to count for something around here when none of the teachers knew what a Turk was.

Anyway, rather than making parents come to his office today, he figured he might as well come out to the brunch, to come to them.

And that decision had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that there was a free breakfast to be had, no. Why would anyone think that?

Irene wasn't a huge fan of communal food, generally, but she was also positive that there were people here who she'd want to meet, too -- or parents who still might want to meet her. (She was willing to keep the 'Health teacher' gag going, too, for the most part.

She got herself a cup of coffee and took to people-watching. (And keeping an eye out for her own guest who, unsurprisingly, she kept losing track of.)

Ichabod longed for this to be over. He was also hoping that the meeting with Celia and Hector Bowen yesterday wouldn't result in him being sent home. If he looked less than cheerful, that's why.

Kitty didn't know if there was anyone left that she really had to meet or anything, which was part of the reason she went to the brunch. Part of the reason was also the free coffee. So she had that in hand and therefore was looking like a pretty happy girl.

Hannibal was here for the people and the lovely weather. Not for the food (he'd eaten before he came) or the coffee (he'd brought his own), and most definitely not for the flamingos (he could get those at home, too, if he ever wanted them).

But he was enjoying people-watching and coffee-drinking, anyway.

There's an impressive spread out this morning of assorted and moddable foods. Fandom High doesn't really bother with your typical brunch stuff.

A lot of students will probably cite multiculturalism or something if asked about the variety here. But no, we're just weird.

This Parents Weekend thing was almost over, yes? Right. Atton'd been out of his apartment more than usual already and it was starting to get to him.

... but then there was food. Food made up for all the other stuff. He stacked his plate full and then found a spot on the fringes to eat.

Mical saw absolutely no reason to leave his hotel room, except...

...except Mira had pushed him out with instructions to bring her back some food while she fine-tuned mines he... hadn't wanted to ask why she was fine-tuning.

He looked a little awkward, standing in the center of the picnic loading up two plates, one much lighter than the other.

Isabelle wasn't sure she'd ever spent this much time alone with her mother, with just the two of them. And it was weird. So, while she was still doing her best to keep an eye on Maryse, she was also kind of lingering by the food tables, tasting a bit of this and a bit of that. Just to take a little break.

Also, she was loading up on food because food. And she was a growing girl!

Even though he and Travis weren't really speaking right now, Kyle didn't want to just leave without seeing him once more.

So, he was there, taking advantage of all the food and looking around at the different people. This place was amazing and Kyle really hoped it did Travis some good.

Kira was a little hungry, but not enough for the amount of time she was spending looking for something to eat. Mostly, she was trying to avoid searching for her parents in the crowd - it was nice that they were here but she had forgotten what it was like to be on her guard all the time.

Anders didn't have a lot of time to spend at the picnic before he needed to get to the shop, so he was optimizing his visit by trying little bits of almost everything.

He probably wouldn't do that again. Pizza didn't benefit in the slightest from having its crust dabbed with jello and whipped cream.

Maud found herself a nice bowl of oatmeal. Which she sprinkled liberally with tiny pebbles before eating.

Well, this weekend had gone... interestingly. That was a good way to put it. Anna had shown up, they'd had some good talks, Elsa had shunted her off on Joker overnight, and then had, predictably, mis-stepped again and again.

And now it was the brunch. Anna's last day on the island, and things were still a bit awkward after the talent show yesterday. Elsa had only one hope to see Anna off on a good note, at this point, and that one hope was...

Well. There was a lot of chocolate here. Elsa was practically hovering near it. Because where there was chocolate, there would almost predictably be an Arendelle princess or two. And if she was putting a few pieces of chocolate onto a plate for herself, that was because this weekend, she really, really needed chocolate.

The only reason Edward had left Galactica Point at all was because, well, truth be told he'd been hungry and he could smell the food from there.

He was remarkably mellow as he settled down at one of the tables, stretching his legs out so his feet found the bench on the other side of the table.

Flick hadn't drunk nearly enough to be hungover so he didn't miss brunch. After waking up enough to be coherent and to get himself in some state of semblance, he'd wandered down, grabbed something light to eat and a drink and found a table to sit at.

He found it better if he didn't pay too much attention to what was going on around him and who was wandering about. Better for his focus, really.
