Homecoming Dance 2014, Town Hall, Saturday Evening

Upon entering the Town Hall tonight, dance attendees might notice a very definite theme tonight! A very definite, very sparkly theme tonight, with enough glitter strewn around the place that there were, in fact, glitterdrifts piling up around the edges of the dance floor. Everything was glittery, or sequiny, or rhinestoney, with a sort of sci-fi punk sensibility about it. Ish.

You'd be surprised how difficult it was to find 'Glitterpunk' as a genre on google for reference.

If you weren't quite certain what 'glitterpunk' was supposed to mean while getting ready for the dance tonight, don't worry! There are plenty of glittery hair accessories, neckties, fingerless gloves, brightly-coloured hair mascaras, and even a selection of bedazzlers to put to work on your way in!

... It was possible that StuCo didn't know what glitterpunk meant, either, but don't hold that against them. There was actually a chance that they'd made a dent in the school's glitter reserves tonight.

Alana was on StuCo,and she was definitely fuzzy on what exactly a glitterpunk was. She'd decided to semi-ignore the theme and just wear a purple dress she liked, with streaks of purple glittery temporary color in her hair to match the theme. She added some fingerless gloves on her way in the door.

It promised to be a good night. The cute date didn't hurt,either.

Ichabod had offered Celia his arm before they entered the hall. It should come as no surprise to anyone who knew him that he was wearing clothes (http://i45.tinypic.com/208a6nt.jpg) from his own time, the best he had brought with him.

"There is no lack of decoration in this room," he observed, smiling at Celia.

Jim had to stop and look around when he arrived. Glitter was already in his hair and on the shoulders of his suit jacket and all he could do was laugh and venture further in.

A little glitter didn't bother him.

Travis had managed to motivate himself into a suit, had gotten the tie properly tied (after he'd called his dad) and had glitter on his shoes as soon as he set foot into the dance.

"Wow." He blinked and had to wave some glitter out from in front of his face.

Rapunzel, who usually sewed her own clothes, was doing her best not to twirl the skirt (http://www.jjshouse.com/A-Line-Princess-Sweetheart-Knee-Length-Tulle-Homecoming-Dress-With-Ruffle-Beading-Flower-S-Sequins-022020846-g20846) of the dress she'd bought. She'd spent a good chunk of the afternoon braiding her hair again, only settling when it just barely grazed the ground as it had in Skyrim, and then had stuck as many pink and purple flowers as she could find into it. You know, like the icon.

She was carefully looking around as she arrived because wow, that really was kind of a lot of glitter. And she had no idea what that word meant, either.

Mara arrived in a green and black dress, black tights and combat boots (because combat boots were always great in a fight), hair straight and out of its usual ponytail or braid.

She knew how Imperial fancy dress parties worked but one with people her own age? She was on less firm footing here. None of that showed on her face as she walked in like she owned the place.

Jono didn't have a date to this thing, but he did at least take some time to dress himself appropriately. Ish. The glitter caught him only slightly off-guard, at least, considering he knew this place well enough, and he even took a moment to put a bright orange streak in his hair with the hair mascara, because... why the hell not? Orange had been his colour scheme since Sunday, so it seemed apt, at least.

He'd never been to a party this elaborate before and he made the mistake of leaning against the wall to get a better view, so now he was covered in glitter.

Cade was wearing leather pants (shocking, right?) and a shirt because this year he decided to wear a shirt.

A clean shirt, even!

It was amazing he was single, truly.

Isabelle showed up in a one-sleeved silver dress, a glittery butterfly pin keeping some of her hair up, and some nice high heels on her feet because not being tall was for other people.

She looked fabulous, and also happy about it. Or maybe she was just happy with how well the theme of the night went with her personal aesthetic preferences.

Edward didn't have anything fancier than what he usually wore, but it was a miracle how much a straight set of shoulders could accomplish.

Cosette hadn't really gotten around to figuring out what glitterpunk meant, so she wouldn't have known whether StuCo got it right. There was nothing remotely glitterpunk about the dress she had on tonight, but she did work a couple of glittery pins into her hair. Good enough, right?

It was less of a photo than a blurred image of a grumpy looking dog covered in glitter being chased by a polar bear cub. Also covered in glitter.

Bay was both hungry and feeling a bit awkward about being at her old high school's homecoming,and that translated to plenty of time by the food table.

She wondered whether it was rude to hoarde the cheese cubes that weren't contaminated with glitter.

There's no escape from the glitter here. Or the punk, in fact, with the DJ playing a selection of punk music through the ages, from the Sex Pistols and The Clash on up through Green Day and Blink-182.

... He'll probably take non-punk requests if you ask nicely.

If you can find a corner that's actually dark, around all of that nice reflective glitter. You might have to settle for a slightly more shady, exceptionally twinkly corner instead.

Sam was pretty sure he hadn't seen this much glitter in his entire life. He managed to wade through some of the glitter drifts and find a nice, dark corner that he'd probably stood in many dances before.

It was like a homecoming to said dark corner for him.
