Valentine's Dance, Town Hall, Saturday Evening

It was Valentine's Day, and love was in the air! Or pollen. Love pollen? Something like that, anyway. It wasn't like the holiday cared any, after all. Not when there was a dance to be had. And this year's dance had just the thing to take everybody's mind off of that pesky pollen!

That's right, dancing. Which, to the uninitiated, might seem a bit redundant for a dance, but Town Hall wasn't having any of that. The whole place was decorated to look like a dance club, complete with funky blue mood lighting and laser lights. Glowsticks were optional, glitter was everywhere and might or might not be an excellent excuse for boykissy, and the music tracks tonight seemed to be a selection of Marvin Gaye and Barry White music... Along with a selection of songs from Lords of Acid.

One did not question the dance. The dance knew what music the students needed today.

It had occurred to Cassandra she should have purchased appropriate clothing for this, but 1) she was beginning to run low on funds; 2) she had no idea what was considered appropriate garb for a social gathering here and, most importantly 3) she loathed shopping, especially when it meant wasting time on finding something she would never wear again.

So, yes, she was there in the coat, eggplant sweater and jeans that she had purchased at the clothing shop in town. Her only concession to the event was that she was not simply wearing a t-shirt instead of said sweater.

She did not look happy with... anything, honestly.

So, Sparkle hated everything about today and then some, but that wasn't going to stop him from showing up here. Possibly because he hated sanity. Possibly because, so help him, he put a lot of time into setting up for this dance, and he'd donated plenty of glitter to the cause. He didn't dress up or do anything special for this one, because that seemed like more effort than this thing was probably worth, but he did throw on a leather jacket because... layers? Layers seemed like they would be somehow useful. Probably.

If nothing else, if he decided it was getting hot in here, he could blame it on his coat.

The literal only reason Ronan was here tonight was that staying his room had done nothing for how he'd been feeling for going on two days now. Nothing.

So, he'd gone out. A dance was so ridiculous to go out to but whatever, maybe he'd be proven wrong.

Face had cleaned up very nicely indeed, it had felt vital to dress his best if he was going to be around people.

Edward had no best to dress as, so he dressed as he usually did - hoodie and old pants - with the addition of Isabelle's scarf.

Which he had almost left at home because bloody Isabelle, but, well, it was as close to decent as he'd look tonight. Sigh.

Coming back to the island after hours spent in a hospital had been a shock to the system. That was due to the pollen, of course. He hadn't expected to go from exhausted to itchy in the span of minutes.

Despite that, he'd arrived to the dance with the full intent of having a drink and then leaving. He was feeling better though there was still some pain but it was better.

Sia had never had a good track record with these weeks, but she figured she'd gotten enough practice dealing with what was essentially sexy allergies that she could handle it anyway. Even if she was here with a guy who should really be climbed like a tree early and often. And even if she was surrounded by (other) people with raging hormones.

Also she'd gotten her dress earlier today, so there was that.

Travis had put on a suit, combed his hair and arrived at the dance after taking several deep breaths outside. That had no effect though because as soon as he stepped in and saw everyone, he felt exactly as weird as he'd been feeling.

This would be a fun evening.

Nathan really didn't know exactly what was going on but he knew it was making him feel strange all over. Coming to a place where there were a lot of people packed in just made it worse.

Just this morning, Isabelle had been crying on her brother as he finally came back to consciousness. You couldn't tell that by looking at her now, though. She was of the mind that even if things had been tough, that was no reason not to look fabulous. In fact, it was really a reason to make an extra effort.

And that was why she showed up in some really tall heels, short dress, and her hair up.

She'd come to the dance almost straight from New York, so as she surveyed the crowd, she had not yet attributed the itch in the back of her mind to anything other than the need to let off some steam she'd been feeling for the past couple of days anyway.

Johnny was not going to take the glitter. There was enough glitter around. He would get some on him eventually. He had more important things on his mind, like how long was appropriate to stay at a dance before suggesting that it was time to go find a nice bed. Or couch. Or restroom. Or start an orgy on the dance floor.

Yep, his brain went there this early. This was going to be a really long dance unless that dance floor orgy happened.

That his eyes should linger on the lady by his side was noting unusual, and neither were the kind of thoughts about her that one should rather not mention in polite society, so Ichabod was just very pleased to accompany Celia to the dance. Not that the dancing itself would be as enjoyable as at home, but perhaps she should try to be more openminded about it. As usual he wore his best clothes from home, with his hair neatly tied back.

He offered Celia his arm as they entered. "So, what would you like to do first?"

Ezra smeared a very liberal amount of glitter in his hair. (He liked shiny things, okay.) Then he and his predictably sharp suit made his way into the crowd.

He was trying to figure out why everyone seemed to smell so enticing today.

Mara, hair down and beglittered (not intentional but the glitter was freaking everywhere) had found a dress that would make Ben cry so so hard make a Twi'lek dancer jealous and was slinking through the room with all of the dancing skills she had.

This was going to end, so so badly.

Alana sidestepped the glitter, though some inevitably settled on her skin. She was thrilled with the way things had come out; she'd always liked dance clubs.

She was glad the weather had warmed slightly. It made it easier for her to wear the backless halter top and fitted black leather pants that seemed like perfect Valentine's Day dance attire to her.

Rapunzel had actually gotten herself a new, modern (http://www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/ballroom-glow-dress) dress for the occasion, and had braided the flowers she'd gotten into her hair to keep it off her face for the evening. She was -- she felt kind of funny? Like, kind of -- hot? And distracted? And maybe that was just how dances made her feel, or it was something about Valentine's Day...except she'd felt like this for all of yesterday, too.

Maybe she could dance it off, at least.

So. Dancing immediately seemed like both the best and the worst idea as soon as Sia and Four got there and she realized just how close they were going to have to be for this. She's not blushing, you're blushing.

Shadowy Corners! [VD 2015]

They're... relatively shadowy, given the light show and all. They're more shadowy than the rest. They are well-lit enough that if you get any ideas, the chaperones will probably be able to catch you, though, so it's probably still a good idea to take anything beyond kissing to a dorm or hotel room.

Atton was here because somebody needed to chaperone these people, and let's face it: most of his mental shielding mojo went to keeping people out of his head. He was gonna get slammed by buckets of teenage emotions tonight anyway. Might as well be on hand to keep a riot from breaking out.

His jacket was still getting fixed, so he was here in a simple black Jedi tunic tonight. Looking like he had a raging headache. Because he did.
