Caritas, Friday, 05/22
Didi loved the Friday before holiday weekends. Everyone seemed more relaxed. Somehow, it even happened on the island -- where it wasn't like most people worked a five-day week to start with. And because Memorial Day marked the start of summer, it was even better: The anticipation in the air was electric.
She made up some lemonade-based cocktails and sipped one of them slowly as she sat at the bar, pretending she was already on the beach.

She reflected.
"He seemed happy to see me, anyhow."

Who knew, right?

It was a nice memory. She cleared hr throat unnecessarily so she wouldn't dwell on it.
"But I've been trying lemonade with all kinds of vodka," she continued, delicately stirring her cocktail with a straw. "Mango was nice. Raspberry was nice. Chocolate was even worse than it sounds."

A few moments later, and he was behaving himself again. More or less.
//... I haven't had lemonade in what is probably years,// he noted, //but the prospect of putting chocolate into it, with or without the vodka, is... appalling. I think what I am experiencing is actually a visceral 'no' reaction.//
All kinds of no.

She seemed, and was, perfectly sober. Alcohol didn't do much for her.

//... You suppose chocolate vodka can feel neglected? I think I probably would've cut my losses and put it into a mocha or something instead, at the very least.//
It seemed far more appetizing. Now he kind of wanted to know what it was like.

"Okay. Your choice. Blueberry vodka and lemonade first, or chocolate vodka in mocha?"
no subject
//I'm going to have to try the blueberry vodka and lemonade,// he settled on. //For now. Since it comes so highly recommended, and all. Anyway, I imagine it'd be faster to prepare than the mocha. I'm all for instant gratification tonight, apparently.//

She stirred the blueberry vodka and lemonade again with her straw, said, "Okay, do your thing" a little awkwardly, and took a long sip.

Or, well, hitched a ride along her sense of taste, at least. It wasn't exactly invasive - unless somebody was a telepath paying close attention to what he was up to, they normally wouldn't even notice that he was doing so.He closed his eyes for a moment, and then tilted his head a bit and just savoured the flavour.
//Oh, that is nice,// he decided. //The blueberry plays nice with the lemon, and it isn't too vodka...ey. S'probably dangerous for just that reason.//

Better just to enjoy it, really.
"But that's the point of fruity summer drinks, isn't it? They're sweet, and so people drink a lot of them before they realize the room's gotten all spinny."
