The bulky booze reserves Tamsin had reeled in during their last stop had no real end in sight. So great was their wealth that this time around, they'd actually just put wine and beer barrels out to function as tables across the community center.

The decorations were nice, though. Just a dusting of gold and blue glitter, nice tablecloths, and a wide selection of food. That was all you needed, right?

Tony took a breath, looking away to force away the tension in his jaw and shoulders. "Believe me, I regret it immensely."

Aw, hell.

Tamsin shot him a lazy glare. "Don't, Stark," she said, "Or I'm going to find you a stronger soda. Maybe something with double the sugar."

"I'm fine," he replied, trying to shake that off as he bumped his shoulder against hers maybe to confirm it, maybe for a little bit of comfort. Who knew? "Had a guest this morning."

"A punch you in the heart guest?" Tamsin guessed. "Yeowch."

"Yeowch," Tony agreed. "But it's only for the weekend. Then we get to go back and make sure no one has destroyed my building. Again."

"They probably have," Tamsin said dryly. "Who is it?"

"The Steve Rogers who isn't currently running SHIELD right now." Which sort of narrowed it down.

Also, reasonably certain this one wasn't a Fascist.

"Oh, ugh," Tamsin said. "The guy I can never snark about because his codename is already a joke."

Hey now, no making fun of Sam's codename now. It was better than Falcon Cap.

Tony had to struggle not to laugh at that. "Yeah, apparently he decided it was best to let people think he was dead than talk to anymore."

Which was totally not something Tony would do.

It was different when Sam used it. Sam was all right.

"Did you hit him upside the head?" Tamsin said. "Because you should."

"I'd just break my hand." Again, he didn't say. Because it wasn't like he'd made it through twenty plus years of knowing his Steve without a fight.

"That's why you use a glass or a baseball bat or something," Tamsin said, sighing.

"I'll leave that up to you," Tony assured her. "You're better with weaponry."

"You want me to go after Steve Rogers with a baseball bat?" Tamsin checked. "Because that actually sounds like fun."

"Well. This version of him." Please do not exacerbate his arguments with the one back home. Or get arrested by SHIELD.

He sighed and shook his head. "No, do not attack anyone with a baseball bat here. Unless they're obviously evil and committing a crime."

"Because I'm sure I could wrangle diplomatic immunity out of these people," Tamsin said.

She was messing with him. But she was doing it with a very straight face.

"As the former King of England," Tony agreed. Because he could play this game too. Also, it was distracting from all the ~emotions~.

"I'm still not King Arthur," Tamsin retorted. "Who was a puppet king anyway."

"Nope, you're not allowed to ruin that for me," Tony replied, putting his hands on his ears.

"Oh my god," Tamsin said flatly. "You're a fanboy."
