Fandom High 20 Year Reunion Mixer, Community Center, Saturday Evening

The bulky booze reserves Tamsin had reeled in during their last stop had no real end in sight. So great was their wealth that this time around, they'd actually just put wine and beer barrels out to function as tables across the community center.

The decorations were nice, though. Just a dusting of gold and blue glitter, nice tablecloths, and a wide selection of food. That was all you needed, right?

"I'm not sure it'll help at all." Crazy Apple's expression was sort of thoughtfully blank. "Maybe I'm just wasting my time."

Another one of those things Ringo wouldn't back down from that Crazy Apple just seemed to shrug off. "I'm not sure what decision you're talking about."

"You're here where you can be solidly Ringo again," Kathy said, more than willing to spell it out for her. "And now you're hiding behind this mask because taking it off--hell, maybe even finding out if you can take it off--is a scary proposition."

She didn't sound terribly invested in whether or not that was true. Crazy Apple tried not to sound invested in much of anything, when she could. Detached was safe.

Detached was easy. And easy didn't always mean best.

"Maybe," Kathy agreed. "Either way, I miss my friend right now. And I hope to get to see her sometime this weekend."

She was lucky, she had a Ringo at home she could see, whose own flirtation with being Crazy Apple 24/7 had been a much shorter duration. But this Ringo didn't have a Kathy she'd be able to see later.

"I'll talk to you later, Ringo. I hope."

Detached actually took quite a bit of work, thank you very much.

So Crazy Apple simply nodded politely. "I suppose we'll see."
