Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet! Friday Afternoon at the Park [09/28].

As one might have suspected, the weather that afternoon was incredibly cooperative and pleasant, just the right balance of nearly everything. Funny how that always seemed to work out. And wasn't that fine weather just a perfect companion for all the decorations and tables set up around the park in anticipation of the weekend's guests, as well as for the impressive spread of food offered for those wanting a bit of a nibble.

There was, of course, glitter, but some might note that it was a bit more tastefully restrained this year.

A bit.

Stretched over the entrance to the park was a large, bold banner, leaving no question as to what all this marvelous preparation was for:

"Of course you do," Steve said fondly.

This would only end in tears and way, way too many toys. "I'll text you my contacts."

Steve kissed her cheek. "You're the best. Thank you. Want the nickel tour of the island?"

"Does this tour involve a lot of stairs?" Because she'd end up flying in that case.

"Unfortunately, yes," Steve said. "My legs are in amazing shape."

"Mine are shapely enough," she replied primly. "I'm shrinking down and riding on your shoulder."

Steve laughed. "That'll be a new thing for me. Do I need to whisper while I give the tour?"

"It'd be nice, but I've bean around Thor and The Hulk." Inside voices weren't applicable for them.

"That is a good point. They don't really do quiet," Steve agreed.

"We can tell any students you run into that you have a fairy friend."

Oh. Oh, Jan. That wasn't a shocking thing around here.

"They'd want to know if that was a thing today, and probably wonder where their fairy friends were," Steve said with a laugh. "This place is...odd."

"You don't say," she teased, leaning into his side.

Steve slung his arm over her shoulders. "Did Tony tell you about the sharknado?"

"I had honestly thought it might have been a fever dream of his?" Possibly after too long in the lab.

"I can see how you could get there," Steve admitted, "but nope. Actual storm with sharks. One blew in through our window."

She wrinkled her nose up at that. "Well, thankfully you got rid of any smell from that."

"Sushi for days," Steve teased.

"Well, now I can't have sushi this weekend." Damn it, Steve!

"Sorry," Steve said earnestly.

"We'll do Mexican instead," she decided. "And then you and I will watch romance movies while Tony whines."

"Did you hear that there are going to be a ton of completely interchangable Christmas movies this year?" Steve grinned. "I'm going to make him watch all of them."

"Oh my god, Christmas is the best time for them," Jan replied, squeezing his arm tightly in her excitement. "I love the ones where you need a bottle of wine to sit through it."

"I have been known to watch a couple of them like that," Steve admitted. "Tony thinks it's hilarious."

"Tony like bad sci-fi and can't judge," Jan said primly.

"Think there'll be a sci-fi Christmas movie?" Steve asked teasingly.
