Caritas; Wednesday [01/13].

A few pizzas had been randomly delivered to the bar that evening, which was great, because who didn't love pizza to go with their jello shots? There was plenty of it, too, so Summer was quick to update her special's board:

Wednesday Specials!
Free Pizza with each Jello Shot!
Root Beer Barrel
Winter Berry Punch
Cottage Cheese and Salmon

And here she figured the idea of chasing a bite of pizza with a cottage cheese and salmon jello shot would be the most disgusting thing she'd encounter that day, until she turned around and discovered quite possibly the most horrific thing her poor eyes had ever seen.

Which was saying a lot, you guys!

"Tino," she said, slowly, with the reservation of someone who wasn't sure she really wanted an answer to the question she was about to ask, "what are you doing?"

"It's too hot," Tino explained, as he ran his slice of pizza under the stream of cold water in the sink, "so I'm cooling it down."

"...What. The hell...?"

Caritas is open!

"I wasn't worried." If he'd known about Tino's behavior he might have been, though. Tino, why?

"Generally, if offered food, I'll take it. I'm not sure there's anyone here I'd question it from." Maybe Eleanor, since she'd gotten him to try that awful shrimp and cheese concoction.

"There might be...some people," said Summer, definitely not looking down the bar at certain people who refused even to learn how to cook, "but it would be a reservation about how it would actually taste than that they'd done something, like, nefarious to it. But, then again, I actually enjoy flies in my ice cream now, so I'm pretty open in that regard."

He took a bite of pizza and chewed it slowly before responding.

"Summer. You enjoy what in your ice cream?" Bugs could be a reasonable protein source, but in ice cream?

"It's an acquired taste!" Summer insisted. And it was a much more socially acceptable one than some of the other aquired tastes she'd developed over the years, and therefor the one she always mentioned while the other one she would not. "I know it sounds weird, and I was really grossed out at first, but, okay, long story short, there's this dimension, right, where they make the BEST Ball Fonders movies out of anywhere...that's an action movie franchise," she felt compelled to add beause she was starting to become aware of what that sounded like, "not what it sounds like, I swear, but, anyway, long story somewhat short, that dimension's Earth got invaded by giant psychic spiders, and part of the peace treaty that happened so they didn't destroy everything involved putting flies in ice cream, so that ice cream could be 'for all creatures'. And I'm telling you, it really grows on you, those giant psychic spiders knew what was up."

A pause.

"Or, well, maybe none of us really know any better, because they are giant psychic spiders, they totally could have just messed with our brainwaves to just believe it's good, but, whatever, it's not like I can tell the difference anymore, apparently."

"Summer. You have led a very odd life." And that was coming from Stark, of all people.

He was just going to consume that root beer shot now. And some more pizza. And shake his head a little.

God, Stark, and you got the super-super-super abridged version!

And Summer had long since decided firmly to take that kind of statement as a compliment.

"Awww," she said, hand to her heart, "thank you, Stark. That really means a lot coming from literally anyone who's spent more than a little time around here."

They could compare weird incidents in their past someday, maybe! And Summer, you might just win.

"You are very welcome," he said with a little laugh. "I meant it!"
