A few pizzas had been randomly delivered to the bar that evening, which was great, because who didn't love pizza to go with their jello shots? There was plenty of it, too, so Summer was quick to update her special's board:

Wednesday Specials!
Free Pizza with each Jello Shot!
Root Beer Barrel
Winter Berry Punch
Cottage Cheese and Salmon

And here she figured the idea of chasing a bite of pizza with a cottage cheese and salmon jello shot would be the most disgusting thing she'd encounter that day, until she turned around and discovered quite possibly the most horrific thing her poor eyes had ever seen.

Which was saying a lot, you guys!

"Tino," she said, slowly, with the reservation of someone who wasn't sure she really wanted an answer to the question she was about to ask, "what are you doing?"

"It's too hot," Tino explained, as he ran his slice of pizza under the stream of cold water in the sink, "so I'm cooling it down."

"...What. The hell...?"

Caritas is open!

"Because I'm pretty sure no one outside of the Radch ever uses the word 'decadent' and 'gloves' in the same sentence," Summer pointed out with a short laugh. "Although now I'm wishing I had paid more attention to his gloves. What's so decadent about them? Or would that be just too decadent for polite conversation?"

"Bare knuckles."

Seivarden found this funny rather than scandalous.

"Don't tell him."

"Oh, no," said Summer, after marveling for a moment over a grown-ass person getting amusement out of bare knuckles. "It's too late. I'm literally going to email him right now about his decadent knuckles. I mean, I feel, as his friend, I owe it to him to let him know, right? I mean, if my roommate was sitting here, perving on my bare knuckles..."

"Summer," Seivarden said. "It's not obscene. It's just, well, people would look. In the Radch, I mean. Please don't tell him, I'm quite sure that's not the impression he wants to give."

"I'm not going to tell him," Summer scoffed as if offended that Seivarden would suggest such a thing, even if it was literally the exact thing she'd just said, but she was smirking as she shook her head. "Geez. Don't worry. All your weird ass glove hang-ups are safe with me."

"Do you know the looks people would give me back home if I said that I worked as a bartender and served drinks to people without gloves?"

She grinned.

"But this reminds me about something I've been meaning to ask you. I'm going to need some Earth clothes sooner or later, and what I left behind doesn't fit anymore. I could use some help."

Seivarden was asking you to be her personal shopper, Summer.

"'I'm not going to be around long enough to bother learning how to cook for myself, thus fulfiling a basic human need, but,'" yes, this was Summer doing her very best Seivarden-voice, which wasn't that great, but there was a certain undeniable air about it that should peg her pretty easily, "I do need CLOTHES.'"

Please, like Summer would mind??

She grinned, any mocking pretense falling away to make room for bright eagerness.

"Shopping trip?"

Seivarden grinned back.

"Shopping trip. Any advice?"
