THE BALL | Saturday Evening

Don't even ask how or why the school auditorium had been transformed into a fairly stylized interpretation of a nineteenth century ballroom. Where had that sweeping staircase come from? Why was everything suddenly pink marble? How were there suddenly NPC footmen everywhere?

Seriously. Don't ask.

In any case, there was a ball, at the castle, where all would be invited to come from near and far to dance with one another in amazing displays of color and mid-century animation techniques.

Maybe there would even be a prince! (Honestly, there would probably be at least three or four princes.) It was sure to be a night of romance - although, not too much romance, since this was all still firmly G-rated.

Okay, so it took Tahani like three attempts to get through the door because her train was a lot, even with the bluebirds helping her get it in, but she was here fashionably early in order to get first dibs on all the princes!

Annie's dress had come together with the help of that wonderful fairy godmother in the park as well as her woodland creature friends (Pierre the Chipmunk had put her hair up into an elegant bun, now, and who even knew where the tiara had come from but there it was.)

She swept through the door, her skirts billowing out as soon as she was free, and immediately hurried to the side. You couldn't be invited to romantically dance with someone if you weren't where you could be found to be asked, after all.

There was a ball here? Tonight? Perhaps, then, Ignis was in luck! Perhaps the prince's true love was a serial ball-goer, and she might make an appearance here tonight as well!

It was sure to be a night of looking very closely at ladies' feet to see if anyone just so happened to be wearing just one shoe that was a perfect match for the glass one he carried on a pillow with him, or going about entreating the women to try on the shoe he had to see if it fit...

You could tell Princess Karolina of the kingdom of Majesdane was kind-hearted by how she was wearing a flower crown instead of her actual tiara. No reason to upstage anyone when you were just visiting!

Just ignore the way her arrival had been heralded by a royal fanfare.

Oh, goodness! A ball! Astrid could hardly believe that she was attending a ball right now, after spending most of her life in an enchanted forest where she spent her time making friends with woodland creatures while creating absolutely beautiful art with her perfectly lovely mother who encouraged her in every way!

Because of her humble but blessed origins, her dress might not have been much, certainly not as fancy as some of the others she was seeing, but she was so terribly charmed and thrilled by it all that it hardly seemed to matter, did it? She was truly just thrilled to be here!

As a simple farmboy, Wayne had no rightful way of knowing how he'd wound up here at this ball, but there he was, almost as if some greater destiny was calling to him. And, somehow, though his clothes were a bit more simple, something about this felt...oddly right, like the regal nature of such an event just came to him...naturally.

How curious! For he was just a simple farmboy...

...or perhaps that was just what it would seem...

Hannibal was tragically alone this evening, as his prince was off on a quest. (Which was to say, Jono had called this morning, listened to him for about a sentence, then said he had work to do and hung up laughing.)

He still had Important Work to do, though, helping anybody who needed it to know that they ought to be true to themselves and strike out to discover their true natures.

Through song, naturally.

Lana had no idea what was going on, but if there were dances at school, you were supposed to show up, right?

Seeing what other people had been wearing today, she'd gone for her full grey-and-green Sith armour, lightsaber at her side, probably looking rather foreboding with her yellow and red, faintly glowing eyes.

Yeaaah, Troy was definitely thinking one of those weird things were happening again, but he hadn't quite figured out too much except that people seemed to be singing a lot? Or being all fancier than usual? And it was pretty great, and he definitely did not need a lot of convincing at all to try and just play along and being all fancy and maybe sing and stuff, too, because it did seem kind of fun.

And going to a fancy dance just seemed the thing to do tonight, too! He even managed to pick up a fancy blazer for it!

This morning the furniture in Belle's room had been speaking to her. That seemed perfectly normal. Why wouldn't the furniture be enchanted? And why wouldn't the wardrobe offer up this beautiful ballgown for her to wear to the ball tonight? It fit perfectly. Almost as if it had been magically made for her as soon as the idea of a ball was discussed. Life in an enchanted castle/school was grand.

Danny had escaped the woodland entourage he'd somehow acquired. Mostly by running when they started a song about finding a happy ending.

Which was. You know. Nope.

But his escape brought him to The Ball, which meant it was fated. Or something.

None of this was normal or okay. Which was why Five was being extra annoyed as his shadow kept trying to drag him into the party.

He'd shown up in case something ridiculous happened to Diego and he could watch him get humiliated. That was it.

Princess Rey hadn't found her prince this morning (a king was not the same thing) but surely there would be one here who would steal her heart away!

She was dressed in a long, elegant green gown made by birds. Totally normal.
