Don't even ask how or why the school auditorium had been transformed into a fairly stylized interpretation of a nineteenth century ballroom. Where had that sweeping staircase come from? Why was everything suddenly pink marble? How were there suddenly NPC footmen everywhere?

Seriously. Don't ask.

In any case, there was a ball, at the castle, where all would be invited to come from near and far to dance with one another in amazing displays of color and mid-century animation techniques.

Maybe there would even be a prince! (Honestly, there would probably be at least three or four princes.) It was sure to be a night of romance - although, not too much romance, since this was all still firmly G-rated.

Steve crossed his arms, emphasizing his biceps for the Viewers at Home. "Explain how."

Steve made a face at him, removing his jacket and slinging it onto a nearby chair. "Need some punch?"

"You know what? Sure. Why not?" Because everything was nuts and Steve was being dashing or whatever.

While his back was turned a raccoon, clearly up to no good, went over to Steve's jacket and stole his shiny, shiny gold trident.

"Hey!" Okay, the fact that the raccoon had a sack for storing what it was stealing was adorable. But mostly weird.

The raccoon looked especially guilty through its mask, stole the rest of the pins--and then Steve's rank--and raced away.

Steve was still too far away to have noticed anything.

Danny chased after it, nearly bumping into Steve on his way. Because those were important, okay? They were important. Mostly to Steve, which Danny could respect. "Well, your vendetta against the raccoons has a reason now."

"Well," Danny sighed, gesturing to that pristine white jacket. That somehow wasn't damaged in the theft. Weird.

"It was a raccoon, so normally I'd say to the woods, but this place... who knows?" Danny sighed.
