Caritas; Wednesday [05/05].

Oh? What was that? Some other country's holiday that basically turned into just another excuse to drink in this country just so happen to fall on a Wednesday again? Oh noooo, what a shame, it looked like Summer would have to go all out on a theeeeme again, how traaaagic.

So. If you didn't know already, today was Cinco de Mayo, and Caritas was all decked out accordingly for the occasion.

But, you know, like, tastefully, or whatever, but Summer would also like to point out that her maternal surname was Sanchez, so she probably had just as much a claim for usurping Cinco de Mayo as she, a redhead named Smith, had for usurping St. Patrick's Day.

Also, it was literally just an excuse to party. You really didn't need to go any deeper than that.

"I hear last week would have been a less fun time for a visit," Annie noted lightly. "Diego came to visit me and got stuck in my New York for like, a whole week because I guess the portals were down due to monsters?"

Or...something?

"Last week was... unpleasant," Stark said. "I didn't see the monsters. I heard about the monsters and tried to avoid them. I did avoid them. I was at the clinic for most of it. Didn't know about the portals."

Of course, Annie could have done some heroing with all those monsters running around the island but this week was still probably a better time to visit.

Everyone had gotten stuck on the wrong side of the portals obviously!

"How was the clinic?" Annie asked, concerned. "Tell me it wasn't, like, busy?"

Were there people with injuries she should have checked on?

"It stayed quiet," Stark said gratefully. "I was worried. It felt like something terrible was going to happen." And he was used to terrible things happening so that had been a fun inescapable feeling.

"But it stayed quiet there. Nothing serious. Anakin needed some bandages." Glittery ones, of course. "There were more visitors than patients."

"That's probably for the best," Annie decided with a firm nod. "I heard a little bit about it from Summer last week -- it sounded awful."

She slanted a smile over, adding, "Clearly, everyone should have come to visit me."

It would have maybe helped with some of the awkwardness!

"It was awful," Stark confirmed. "Even without major injuries or seeing any monsters."

"Maybe we should all go see you. Someday."

He'd managed in Japan. He could maybe survive New York.

"Ooh, actually -- " Annie considered that for a moment. "Would you want to come to a thing I'm doing, back home? There's this giant festival where I'm a headliner next week, and it's usually kind of fun."

More fun than just watching her sign autographs all day, which was what she'd done yesterday.

Stark hesitated for a moment before answering. "Yes?"

He nodded then. "I've been thinking I could try going more places." And Annie probably wouldn't let anyone drag him off.

"This would be kind of a fun one to get your feet wet," Annie decided, kind of forming a little plan. "I mean, I was going to ask other people to come, too. And there's, like, rides and kettlecorn and fun stuff besides me and other superheroes."

And also a whole lot of Jesus, but it wasn't, like, that big a deal.

A group was even better! He could attach himself to a few people and pretend he didn't stand out as much in a crowd as he did.

"That sounds good. I think."

And he was fine with religion! He kind of had to be.

"It's kind of a religious thing," Annie added, like it was not the focal point of the darn thing, "but really it's about, like, having fun and concerts and rides and stuff." And the more Annie thought about it, the more she was liking the idea of inviting a bunch of people to Believe. Like, sure, she'd have to vet them a little, but it wasn't like she couldn't get a whole bunch of free passes to hand out, and...it would be kind of nice, really, to have Fandom folks around to support her.

"I don't mind religious things," Stark said. "Sometimes I even like them."

But would the religious thing like him? He was a vaguely mystical alien, among other things. But it would probably be fine!

"It's a Christian thing," Annie added helpfully. "So, like, lots of Jesus stuff."

A pause, as Annie remembered explaining things to Rey, and added, "He's the baby at Christmastime."

Helpful.

"Came back from the dead at Easter," Stark said, nodding.

He'd been executed and then not dead once himself. And death was his area of expertise.
