After getting a load of what Summer had put together for her jello shot theme that evening, all Tino could do was complain about how it wasn't fair that apparently Summer wasn't being banned from the Olympics, but he was.

"Yeah," said Summer, "I'm pretty sure there's a big difference between thematic jello and shotputting from the karaoke stage, Tino."

Maybe she could just convince him to pole-vault himself right into the trash or something, though.

"Is this something I should know about?" Seivarden asked when she showed up.

She didn't know about Earth sports and didn't care.

"I mean," said Summer, "if you have to ask, then, obviously, the answer is yeah."

Was Summer going to go ahead and set out the jello shots for Seivarden in a very particular pattern, anyway? Of course she was. She could always just choose not to drink them.

"But it's the Olympics," she offered by way of explanation. "Happens every few years, it's this big global thing where every country brings together their brightest and best to compete on a world stage in a variety of different sports. Kind of a big deal if you're into that sort of thing, and even if you're not, it's kind of hard not to get sort of swept up in the excitement of it, you know?"

Summer was pretty sure Seivarden would find it actually not hard at all to not get swept up in the excitement of it.

Or most things, really.

It was Earth sports. Why would she care?

Just show her some fit athletes without gloves.

She picked up the first jello shot, starting with the blue one.

"And it even makes a good jello shot theme. How are you, Summer?"

"Anything can make a good jello shot theme if you're me," Summer pointed out, with a cocky grin and a proud lift of her chin, and just go ahead and try her on that, she dared you. "And I'm good. Thanks. How are you?"

That seemed the bigger question, really, since she felt the last time they talked, it had been not great, even if Seivarden would probably never admit to the fact that it had been not great.

Seivarden wasn't going to question that.

"I'm... fine." She smiled. That wasn't entirely truthful. "I stopped by last week, but you weren't here."

She was aware that Summer had had a very good excuse, though.

"Well, yeah," said Summer. "It's was Rey's birthday party, I wasn't going to miss that for anything. You should have stopped by."

Sure, Summer wasn't even sure if Rey and Seivarden really even knew each other, or if they even got along, but whatever, it was a party, who even cared about stuff like that?

Seivarden had stopped by at birthday parties where she didn't know the person before, but she just hadn't been in the mood.

"Was it a good party then? Did you bring jello?"

She finished the blue jello shot.

"Oh, God, I have to teach in the morning," Annie groaned, looking at the specials board as she set her little overnight bag down next to her barstool. "Like, I shouldn't, but I've also spent all week doing reshoots and station bumpers and -- you know what, Summer? Let's start with the red one."

She would not be going for the gold, but goddammit if she didn't deserve a jello shot or two, at least.

"You had fun with that," Rey said, glancing at the specials board.

"You're just full of obvious questions you already know the answer to tonight, aren't you?" Summer noted with a snort. "Of course I did. Like I could even live with myself if I didn't whip up a custom set for Rey's birthday. They were mostly space themed, of course, and were, naturally, a big hit."

Lo and behold, there was a red one set before Annie, with the promise of perhaps a few more to follow.

"And that," said Summer, "is why we have movie days."

Becoming a teacher herself had put so many movie days throughout her past education in a whole new perspective, really.

"So, it's been back to work, huh? The glamourous life of our hot-shot superceleb."

"Maaaaaaaaybeeeeee," drawled Summer, with the beaming sort of grin one would expect when someone was not even a little trying to hide the truth. She basked a little bit in the completeness of her particular level of extra before the grin went a little softer. "You know I'm a sucker for an easy theme, though.

"You wanna try one?" Summer asked, because that was inevitable.

"Or go for the gold?" That was inevitable, too, although she wasn't really expecting that one to be a yes.

"You really know how to do a tie-in marketing event," Jesse said, amused. "Do they also... taste like those colors? Like the squishy machine does 'Red'?"

"I don't think anything actually tastes like a Red Squishy," Summer decided. "It's, like, its own weird unexplanable phenomenon. But I definitely did try to encapsulate the essence of each of the colors into the shots, but you know..."

She flashed Jesse a grin. The sort of grin that made it clear that Jesse should have expected this, if she hadn't already anticipated it.

"There's only one way to know for suu~ure~~"

Yes, with a lilting little sing-song goading in that last word especially.

"I do not have the tolerance to do that," Rey said wryly. "Which one's your favorite?"

"Mmmm." Summer considered them with a thoughtful sort of frown, the one that went along with being unprepared for a question she really should have expected eventually. "That's a good question. Probably the black one? Erm, no, actually, maybe the green. Or the yellow, you really can't..."

She cut herself off, her brow furrowing.

"Damn. This is kind of like trying to pick a favorite child out of the most mediocre kids ever."

Or so she imagined.

Like, she couldn't even just rely on picking the pink one by default!

"Black," she finally decided, firmly, and conclusively, setting that chosen shot in front of Rey. "It's probably got the most going for it, compared to the others. I was definitely way more style than substance with this one."

Annie rolled her eyes, waving a hand at her. "Turns out that when one of the stars of your movie is an evil Nazi, reshoots become a thing. Endless, endless reshoots. And they're making me do a music video this weekend. It's sooooo glamorous."

If by 'glamorous' one meant 'tedious and involving a lot of other people touching me,' anyway.

"How are you? How are things here? Everyone getting used to being aboveground again?" she checked.

Summer shrugged. "As far as I can tell," she said. "I don't think it took much, everyone was pretty much ready to bust through the ground at that point, I'm sure. I'm more surprised they didn't just bring up a whole population of mole people or something with them.

"I'm definitely glad it's over, though," she added, "and I wasn't even in the hole."

Yeah, Jesse let out the sigh of the should-have-seen-that-coming. "Do you have any virgin versions?" she tried.

"Thank you," Rey said, smiling. "I didn't realize I would cause such a minor crisis."

"I wouldn't have expected anything less," Seivarden said with a grin, then continued: "So, what about our Arrack plans?"

That were mostly Summer's plans, but never mind.

"Still definitely in development," Summer assured her with a smile. "Gotta admit , I'm still a little scattered from LIFE the whole hole situation, but, yeah, if there's a day or time coming up that'll work well for you, maybe we can finally get that ball rolling on out."

"We'll find a day, then when life permits," Seivarden said. "I brought some more arrack. And I took some photos, if you're interested."

"You didn't miss anything except crooked bowling," Annie shared. "We did flavored vodka shots the Wednesday I was down there in your honor."

Though honestly, given how well-equipped it had seemed like some people had been down there, they probably could have made jello.

"And now I'm stuck in, like, PR kiss-ass purgatory at work for falling in a hole without telling anyone for a week," Annie added, finishing her shot with another roll of her eyes.

"Well, I mean," said Summer, who could make a minor crisis out of anything,lbr, "it's one thing to pick what I like, but that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be what you like, either. I think it's fair to say, actually, that our disparate personalities is part of the charm of our friendship, and I don't want to put you in the position of having to tell me that my favorite tastes like ass....or just pretend that it doesn't."
