Outside the MCA Building, Way Too Early In The Morning

This might have happened last year as well, but there was really no preparation for piercing alarms going off before the sun was even up.

At least it wasn't cold out. That was possibly the only thing that kept this from being the worse thing ever. That one thing there.

Because everything else sucked.

"This better not be a yearly occurrence," Danny muttered, clearly dooming them all to it.

"It's happened before?" Irene asked, catching that as she wandered over. "You'd think it might be on a calendar or something, then. Let us plan."

No, Irene, that was exactly the opposite of the point of a fire drill.

"Last summer," Danny said, turning his attention on the new person. Wel, he assumed new person. "You sound familiar with the ridiculous nature of this place."

"Well now it is," Steve muttered, scrubbing his hands through his hair and yanking on his Newark PD t-shirt.

He'd stolen the shirt years ago.

"I don't suppose this is going to be over anytime soon," Rey checked.

Your building was yelling, Danny.

"Not until the Fire Department shuts it off," Danny said over the noise.

Silver had remembered this from last year, and had not only managed to pull on pants before grabbing his crutch and leaving, he grabbed a blanket too.

He slept outside before, and he'd do it again. He refused to be conscious this early in the morning. Refused.

"Really?" Rey asked when she noticed the blanket.

"I'm not about to let a fire alarm interrupt my sleep," he said.

One good thing about being a habitual napper was that three AM wake-up calls weren't really cutting into Shunsui's sleep all that much, and forget about screwing up any sort of schedule. It was a little annoying, he supposed, but he figured, as long as he remembered to grab a bottle of sake on the way out, and his robes and swords along with it, he might as well just jang back and enjoy the show, and considering just going down to the park to finish up his slumber in a little bit.

After all, what kind of expert napper would he be if he could let a few klaxons and alarms dissuade him?

Rey wasn't new to this or anything, but she was deeply annoyed. At least she had a normal plain tank top and sleep pants to wear out.

And maybe she'd crabbily be out here trying to stop the alarm with her brain.

Irene did not actually live over at this apartment building, no, but her business (and subsequently, her own flat) was next door and blaring all the same, so once she'd made it outside, she made her way over to join the crowd in her pajamas and robe. (Eberjey and La Perla, for those playing at home.)

And while she was frowning, of course, she was also curiously eyeing the assembled people to ensure no one looked hurt, and that this really was just some kind of drill.

Some kind of terrible, terrible drill.

Travis rolled up in his (tiny) engine, siren competing with the alarm for attention.

At least it shut off when he parked the thing?

“Anyone see any signs of actual fire?”

"No," Danny said with a heavy sigh. At least it'd get shut off quickly. "Not unless someone's got incense going."

"Just like the rest of town then," Travis said with a sigh. "Right. I'll do a walk through to confirm and get the alarms shut off. Can you make sure if anyone does start feeling symptoms of, like, CO poisoning or something, they get checked out?"

"For the record, I didn't do shit and I'm not responsible for fucking anything," Barry declared as he exited the building actually fully clothed.

Look the guy barely slept so sorry folks, he wasn't wearing PJ's or anything revealing.

"I'm just gonna let you know right now, that's the most suspicious thing to start out with," Danny informed him.

"Well that's my fucking testimony and I'm sticking to it," Barry said with a shrug. "Because honestly the deadly shit is on the warehouse side of the island."

There was a brief moment where Barry paused and then immediately yanked out his phone, checked a couple of experiments and then sighed with relief.

"Definitely not me," he reiterated.

He probably remembered that from last year too.

Don't mind the staring -- Irene was almost positive she'd met this guy before, and that he'd been a Fandom resident back when she was here prior, but she was having the hardest time placing him --

"I wonder if there's such a thing as self-heating coffee," she mumbled. "That might be smart to stock up on for next time..."

Prompto definitely didn't live at MCA, but the sirens were going off even over at Covent Garden where he was staying. His confusion and concern drew him out over to the gathering crowd outside.

"What's going on?" he murmured sleepily. "Are those..." He lifted a hand to stifle an interrupting yawn, "...fire alarms?"
