Mini-Avengers Tower, Friday Evening

Well, the ballroom was once again done up for a grand get-together with a distinctly winter and holidays theme: trees and greenery and candles and (non-sentient) ribbons on things. Because Tony didn't know how to not go overboard, there was one massively oversized tree and a brand new chandelier over the dance floor to continue with a wintry feel.

The trees were covering the normal rotation of wall art that kids sent to the Avengers, but the smaller trees around the ballroom had handmade ornaments sent from around the world and contained at least two depictions of Thor flying Santa around using his hammer. Because it was the holidays! Everyone wanted Thor to fly them around for the holidays, right?

There was holiday music in a variety of languages playing over the entirely too complicated sound system when the gremlin choir that Steve, at least, didn't remember inviting wasn't singing on the stage. The food was catered and abundant (though missing jelly doughnuts. After yesterday, Tony and Steve had declared themselves doughnuted out, however temporarily), your hosts were suitably attired, and there wasn't a bathtub filled with hooch to be found anywhere.

Prompto's sweater was pretty bad, it was true, but the man star of the show was clearly his accessory: Noctra making her big party debut in a truly festive way.

He was still a little uncertain of the whole social acceptability of bringing your baby to one of these things, since, well, it was all pretty new territory for him, but he really didn't want to miss out on seeing what everyone else was going to be wearing, and it probably wouldn't be long before she started to get restless and need to go home, anyway, so even just a little bit of a party was going to be a nice change of pace.

If anything, just as he suspected, Noctra was immediately taken in by all the decorations, her big blue eyes trying to just look at everything all at once in fascination.

Steven and Llewellyn who would ping in on his own arrived together. In the spirit of the event Steven had on his own party sweater which he was rather proud of.

Steven looked around as they came in, noting all the decorations. The chandelier in particular caught his eye as something to admire. One might even say he was marveling at it.

When you owned an ugly sweater made by Swarovski, Irene felt it was all right to actually repeat an outfit that you had worn to a party the year prior. (She might have felt differently if she'd ended up in that bathtub of punch, after all.)

And yes, before she went anywhere else, she was going to take a moment to stare up at the chandelier, because by her count this was now a third one. Amazing. God, she missed having a house sometimes. That thing would be just absurd in her flat, you know?

Someone had somehow managed to track down the most perfect sweater for Summer for this (well, it could probably have been more pink and more glittery, but still!), so she was absolutely there and wearing it proudly (and so comfortably!) and just sighing a lot, all wistful and happy that she didn't have to do a single goddamn thing for this party!

Annie, as one of the former hosts of the annual Christmas rager, felt it was her custodial duty to attend this party, even if it meant she was abandoning Diego with the kids for the second time this week. And, honestly, she wasn't even planning on staying long -- that new-mom feeling plus the guilt of leaving her babies just to go to a party did not spell a long evening out for Annie.

But, as a direct result, her phone was actually staying in her hand the entire time she'd be here, lest she miss a buzz or a ring from a far-away back pocket. (It also allowed her to be quick with the photos, if anyone wanted to see the kids, too.) And honestly, once she was inside, she almost forgot to be worried about the kids. (Almost. And then she was looking back and forth from kid artwork to her phone, like Diego might have called while she was looking at what she was pretty sure was a picture of Thor.)

Atton was not partaking in the tradition, thank you very much. He was just showing up in a Metallica sweatshirt, which from his point-of-view came close enough.

He took one look at the decorations and decided he was definitely looking forward to escaping to New York over the weekend.

Margo didn't come wearing a jokey ugly sweater this time around. She was just wearing what was either the world's longest Christmas sweater or the world's shortest Christmas dress.

And a smile.

Gladio had considered just trying to find some ugly Christmas pants as a good excuse to just go shirtless to this thing, but, no, he decided he'd be true to the spirit of the holidays (especially since he was making Ignis wear one, too) and wearing an actual shirt.

Sorry, everyone. But you all knew these things were usually temporary, anyway.

He also had one of those Santa hats, too. Because icon! it matched!

Most people would not call Liliana Vess a helper, but here she was, proving them all wrong, thoughtfully pointing out a hole in the tower's security by casually arriving in the ballroom in a swirl of inky black vapor. Look, her townhouse in Ravnica had water in the pipes, not eggnog, of course she'd gotten ready there.

Shocking probably no one, she had eschewed the suggestion to wear an ugly sweater, but she had found something suitably festive and closer to her own aesthetic anyway. A purple Santa hat might have completed the ensemble, but she had no idea about the connection to last week's hats, so she had just worn her ubiquitous golden headdress, and the Chain Veil chimed softly on her right hip.

"Hello, darlings," she greeted her hosts, clueless of any consternation her Planeswalking might have caused.

So, apparently, now, for these holiday parties, it was to become a new tradition for Gladio and Prompto to choose what Ignis would be wearing for him, without telling him what it was. In the spirit of camaraderie and the holidays and trust, Ignis....reluctantly agreed. So while he was here, he had no idea what he was actually wearing, and he was not allowed to even ask questions about it.

A part of him felt he was much, much better off not knowing, but he supposed only time would tell, and, if anything, it would just give him an excuse to find Liliana and have it removed sooner rather than later...

There had been much deliberation before a sweater was finally chosen for Stark. There had been a couple of other very solid options but eventually this polar bear sweater had won out. It referenced glowing and the lights on it lit up!

He was very impressed by the new chandelier. And everything else, really.

Yes, having a lobster Christmas sweater this year might have been an impressive feature, but really? The actual impressive thing about what Amaya was wearing was that she'd managed to somehow engineer a red bow for her hair that was actually keeping it in a ponytail.

She didn't know how long she could expect it to last, but she was interested to find out. It was important research! And truly a shame that very few people would be able to recognize it for the technological marvel that it actually was!

Rosa was here, of course, as she always was, for free booze and to watch people look dumb.

And she was just wearing black pants and a black t-shirt, but the black t-shirt did have simple white lettering on it that read "UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER", because she thought she was hilarious.

Watts, of course, was there in a sweater vest, because it meant he could still wear a (shiny blue) tie and his regular dark grey trousers, although he’d left the suit jacket at home in the name of properly being able to show off the shirt for the party.

His hat, of course, ended up hanging from one of the trees closest the entrance.

To the surprise of no one Cutter’s sweater had a dinosaur in it and he was looking forward to spending the evening out, considering how few he and Connor had left before their house arrest.

Humphrey had not intended on showing up at any Christmas party that evening. After official introductions with his new boss were done he had gone back to the hotel to relax before changing into something more comfortable. He had decided to go for a walk and get a feel for the island a bit more and he had seen Steven and Watts heading into some big tower-like building. Hurrying after them with the intent to just give a quick 'hello' to them Humphrey froze when he got inside and realized it was a party. Oh this was not good.... Humphrey was quickly looking around to the nearest exit.

There was a fountain of mulled wine because, well, because Fandom. And your hosts were just rolling with it. But there were also a wide assortment of drinks and food, along with bottles of water because Steve had thought ahead on that one.
