So, this was Summer's first pollen week while single in three years, so she was thinking thigns could get a little interesting at her Caritas shift that evening.

Good interesting? Bad interesting?

(Even worse. not interesting at all??)

She had no idea, so she was trying not to think about it, or build up any expectations, to keep herself simultaneously prepared for everything and for nothing at all. Which left a pretty big, obnoxious knot in her stomach.

Although that could also just be from working in all-too-close proximity of Tino and the realization that, especially without the 'I have a boyfriend!' shield, that could theoretically happen tonight.

Yeah, okay, she was definitely going to just focus on making drinks and slinging jello and insisting this was an absolutely normal Wednesday night, until something started to look decidedly more advantageous for her.

Well, maybe with a little help from the specials tonight. What? She was nothing if not an opportunist.

"My 'hope' has gotten fucked up the ass too many times to count," Margo muttered. "Sometimes even a literal ass. Talking donkeys are way too nice for their own good."

“No problem,” Dean said with a nod. “And because I’m new here, is there actually a talking donkey on the island?”

"No, but there's at least five hundred of them in Fillory," Margo muttered. She took a big damn sip of her drink.

A gulp, maybe.

“Speaking of… Fillory, not donkeys, I’ve made some headway into researching portals around here. Nothing substantial yet but that’s not surprising,” Dean said with a shrug. “But if I come across anything I’ll let you know.”

Oh hey, hello, there was her actual undivided attention. "Headway like what?"

“Well there’s the one’s I know already but those are off the table as those components aren’t available and go to places you don’t care about,” Dean said pulling out his journal and flipping to his research. “And a couple of general plane shifting spells but I don’t think you’re interested in going to Hell or Purgatory.”

"Eugh, no," Margo said, wrinkling her nose. "That just sounds like a whole new problem."

"Purgatory is out for me but, Hell does raise possibilities," Dean said. "I've got a contact there who knows some major mojo. If I can pull a few strings she might be willing to help me out."

"You know demons?" Margo sounded skeptical, strangely enough.

"She's actually just a witch," Dean said, shaking his head. "I don't trust demons."

Unless it was Crowley but that was different. And complicated.

"She's done favors for me and my brother in the past but she can be a bit fickle depending on her mood. Trying to get to a coked-out reality with talking rabbits might be whimsical enough for her to try and help."

Margo picked at the rim of her glass. "Witch or Magician?"

"Definitely a witch. Coven. Hexes. The whole enchilada," Dean replied. "I trust her though."

He probably shouldn't.

"She's good people."

Most of the time. Look, Dean had complicated relationships with evil entities, ok?

"Well if you want to grab your Hellphone and give her a call, sure," Margo said, squinting at him. "Why not?"

"Well, technically it's just a regular phone," Dean said pulling out said phone from his pocket. He flipped it open and hit a number he had on speed dial.

He waited a few moments and gave Margo an awkward smile. "It's ringing."

Then he rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Got her voice mail," he explained and waited until it rolled through the recorded bit. "Rowena! It's Dean. Yes, I'm alive again. I'm looking to open up a portal to a place call Fillory. It has talking animals and shit. Call me."

He closed the phone, which no doubt you could find in any gas station and gave Margo a thumbs up. "We'll see what she says."

"Thanks," Margo said, considered his jawline, took another sip, considered it again, and said, "Maybe try fewer shitty puns later in the week."

Dean tried to resist it. He really did.

But he'd had too much to drink at this point.

"Whatever makes you hoppy."
