Movies in the Park- The park, obviously, Monday night

The park was set up with a large screen for the movie to project onto, the sound system was up and working, and there was plenty of room for people to spread out with blankets, chairs, picnic supplies, or whatever else they might have brought. Alcohol was fine as long as you kept in mind that this was a family-friendly event, in that younger kids would only probably really be interested in the cars and older kids might enjoy the actual movie.

So come one and come all, and watch yourselves some 2 Fast 2 Family.

Prompto wasn't too sure Noctra would be interested in a movie like this (lots of action, though, and moving things....she might not get what was happening, but he could see her being drawn in!), but he did know that he was, and, even more so, he was interested in anything that gave her the opportunity to just sort of feel some space that wasn't their apartment. Fresh air, room to roam, quality time....what wasn't to love?

Well, some of the other movie-goers might not love a two-year-old on the loose and making a lot of noise and distraction from their movie,so this was also sort of a test run to prepare himself for an early exit if she got too rowdy or wound up.

And, of course, he was definitely snapping pictures here and there until things got started.

"Cute kid," Jaina said, pretty happy to watch a little kid run around as long as she wasn't the one chasing them.

"Heh, thanks," Prompto said, a bit sheepishly, because even second-degree compliments would always make him feel a little awkward, and he gave Jaina a little bit of a crooked smile, without taking his attention off of Noctra too much, especially since she was doing pretty good of staying within the designated area he'd laid out for her when they got there.

(For now. If she noticed her dad was talking to someone, she was likely going to seize that opportunity of distraction while she could).

"She definitely takes after her mom there. And yours, too." He nodded that way. "Assuming those are yours and not just some random kids you picked up on the street."

Hey, look, around here? Random kids you didn't know could be anything!

"They're mine. I never quite got into picking up adorable street urchins." She just befriended them. "Though the night is young."

"Maybe all the high-octane adventure and the message of family will just draw them all out of the woodwork for you," Prompto said with a chuckle. And maybe the slightest shudder at the thought that the island probably would have them beset with random adorable street urchins one day...which they will all deeply regret by the weekend in some fashion or another, which also meant he should shift the subject, too.

"I'm Prompto, by the way," he offered, then nodded toward his daughter...just in time to catch her trying to step outside of the parameter set by stuffed animals. She froze, one foot still lifted, and Prompto lifted an eyebrow at her and she set the foot down and very demurely took a big step back into the designated space. She then plopped down to sit, rifling her hands through the grass as if she had been there playing with it the whole time, and Prompto snorted fainted, shaking his head.

"And that's Noctra. I'm not sure if we've met before? Wouldn't surprise me. I don't get out as much as I used to."

Three guesses why, Jaina!

"Probably not. I'm Jaina. I've only been back for the summer so far." Still trying to change that! "Also, sometimes hard to find a babysitter."

"We don't need one!" Daniel piped up.

"You have never lied harder," she said.

Again, Prompto had to chuckle at that. "Yeah," he said, "I kind of lucked out there. I've got a whole handful of people to foist her on if me and thr wife wanna sneak out for at least an evening or something. Though not sure how easy that's going to be with our second one," and please don't mind the absolutely stupid grin creeping onto his face at that, "on the way now. How old are yours?"

"Congratulations," Jaina said with a smile. "They turned eight on Saturday. So old enough to run around without us but not old enough to not burn down the house."

There might have been a "Everybody makes mistakes," muttered from one of the boys. (Daniel. It was always Daniel.)
