Look what time it was! It was time to get everyone piled into the bar to make friends and/or bad decisions!

The bar was decked out for Valentine's Day, with a lot of tacky-classic red and pink decor to go along with the huge banner draped across the wall of the stage, lovingly made by the Glitter class, reading:

Everyone was free to mingle until a couple minutes before 8:00, when Kitty took to the stage.

"Good evening, everybody! And welcome to Three Minute Dates! If you're new, the rules are as such: we'll call pairs of names. You pair up, you chat, get to know each other as well as you can in three minutes, and then the bell will sound and I'll call out different sets of names, and so on, and so forth. Physical violence will get you magically transported out, don't hook up in the bathrooms, and have fun. You've got a couple minutes to still sign up if you want!"

3MD couldn't have been better timed; it was the perfect way to celebrate Ignis' birthday today. They had returned from their pre-birthday vacation in Insomnia so that Liliana could teach her class and after 3MD ended, they would be flitting off again for his post- birthday vacation. But for the next few hour or so they were here; Liliana dressed to celebrate, a Very Sexy Martini in hand, not announcing the date to all and sundry because she was an exemplary fiancée.

Though, honestly, the timing couldn't have been better if she'd planned it. She was just going to take the universe conspiring to make the timing work out as her due.

Or Ignis'.

While Arden had been bullied by birds to come to the first 3MD she'd been to, she'd made a point to come to them of her own volition ever since. It was unlikely that she would meet anyone new, but it was always good chance to talk people that she didn't normally get a chance to.

And to dress up a little more than she normally did! Velvet pants under a t-shirt counted as dressing up, yeah?

Jaina had been in town maybe half an hour. She had the weekend in town thanks to some family stuff she was happy to grumble about, and had just set herself up at the townhouse before stopping in.

And sighing as soon as she saw what was happening because she knew Tino was already putting her name on the list.

Listen, Adrian had considered wearing a shirt of a color other than black, he really had! But he didn't have many of those to begin with and he had plans for the one nice enough to wear to 3MD. So he'd compromised, and was wearing a black-on-black tie with a nice pattern that showed up under the light. That counted, right?

He ordered two Shirley Temples (one for him, one for Rey) and looked around to survey the crowd.

Pam was generally not a bar person, but Harley was out with Freeze all night, and she had nothing better to do.

She did not know how she wound up signed up for some kind of dating event. At all.

She would be here, quizzically sipping her drink until it started.

Caleb wasn't entirely certain what had possessed him to sign up for this, other than the knowledge that he should get out more. He only had two nice shirts so he'd opted for the blue one, and was wearing a tie. As dressed up as a depression era guy could get.

He considered asking the bartender if they could recommend something for someone who's sole experience with drinking was prohibition moonshine but feared that could go catastrophically wrong tonight.

Gregorith was once more sans disguise, being more and more comfortable without it. He'd been wearing his usual suit jacket over a black turtleneck which was fine for the walk over but now that he was inside he had the jacket off and the sleeves of the sweater up to his elbows.

He was limiting himself to one Very Sexy Martini tonight.

It was rather interesting, yes, how 3MD had gained a bit of a traditional status in Ignis's mind these days, when that fateful one a few years ago had been one he'd been so adamant against participating in. And he had never been so glad to be proven so absurdly, absolutely, unequivicably wrong before in his life.

He was rather certain he was not wrong about his feelings that an espresso martini was in order, and he, naturally dressed to match his stunning fiancé though the most remarkable thing about his own outfit was likely the choice to go without his glasses, did his glance around the bar with his ears by listening in to see what sort of crowd had gathered this time.

Since she'd worked on the banner in class, Yana figured it was just good manners to show up to Kitty's event, and see all the hard work in action.

She was gonna make a face as Tino added her to the list, but whatever. Maybe she'd get lucky and Sabine would be around to hang out with.

Stark was here because...it was something to do, and he needed more things to do, and he didn't want a mildly disappointed look from Kitty in class next week. And sometimes it was entertaining to see people. And maybe he'd meet someone he hadn't managed to meet yet.

Gray, as per usual for these events, was pregaming not with alcohol but with a giant coffee concoction from The Perk that was at least half various syrups and topped with a ridiculous amount of whipped cream. Ridiculous amounts of caffeine and sugar v. Sloth, who would win? (Sloth. Sloth would always win. But hopefully not for at least fifteen minutes.)

Belle had a Very Sexy Martini in hand (because the name was more amusing to say when ordering) and was looking around the bar. These events were always a good excuse to go out and socialize a bit.
