Fandom High Prom - Part I

City Hall is aglow with the light from the torches. Streamers in blue and yellow line the way for students towards the ballroom. Inside, hangings and other decorations represent the Lost Cities. A working volcano stands in Krakatoa's corner. Seven DVD players are projecting 3D images of the cities as well. And streamers, glitter, candles, balloons, and lights are everywhere.

Prom has begun.

Cameron laughed and slowed them down completely. He tightened his arms around her to steady her. "So now when people ask you how your prom was, you can say it was dizzying. You okay?"

Molly was still holding onto his arms for balance, but she was smiling when she nodded the affirmative to his question.

"Good," he kept his arms around her. "We'll do it properly now," he said as he stared moving to the music again, going slow this time.

Molly eventually stopped feeling dizzy and relaxed her grip. Dancing was definitely much easier when you didn't feel like you were going to fall down.

Cameron sighed and stroked a hand down her back. "Did I tell you that you look beautiful?"

Molly inhaled as his hand slid down her back. "Yes, you did," she said quietly, looking up into his eyes. "Did I remember to tell you that you look very handsome or did I just tease you?"

"I think there was mostly teasing," he said with a small smile, "but I got what you meant."

"It should be said anyway." Molly smiled back at him. "You look very handsome tonight, Cam," she said.

Cameron chuckled and leaned down a bit. "Careful, it might go to my head," he warned softly.

Molly tilted her head and giggled. "You can't always wear a tux. You'll be back to your regular dork self soon enough."

He huffed. "Are you saying you only find me good looking in a tuxedo?"

Molly rolled her eyes. "You are sooo vain," she said.

"No," he was grinning. "I just like teasing you."

Molly smirked at him, narrowing her eyes just a bit as she pretended to weigh his words. "No, I think that's just your cover story. You're really just vain and want to hear other people tell you they think you're good looking."

Cameron scoffed and shook his head. "You want to dance alone, shorty?"

Molly frowned her poutiest frown and looked up at him through her eyelashes. "You wouldn't really leave me alone on the dance floor, would you?"

"No, but I could dump you off at the punch," his tone was light, though, and it was obvious that he was just teasing.

"Like a sack of old potatoes?" Molly continued to pout, but was finding it hard because she kept wanting to grin instead.

"Uh huh and tomorrow we're making fries," he laughed softly and rubbed her back. "Nah, everyone here would kick my ass for leaving the prettiest girl at the prom on her own. Me first."

Cam's words in combination with the back rubbing made Molly blush deeply. She really didn't know how to respond to his compliment, so she leaned with her cheek on his chest and hugged him.

Sliding a hand to her shoulder, Cameron hugged her back as the song came to an end. He brought them to a stop and looked down at Molly. "Thanks for the dance."

Blush now under control, Molly looked up at him. "Thank you for asking me," she said.

"Couldn't have stopped me," he assured her and rubbed his thumb along her shoulder before slowly pulling back. "I think I should let someone else get a chance to dance with you now."

"Yes, because I have such a long list of people to dance with," she said, putting on a superior air.

"I don't doubt it," he said seriously. "Just promise me you don't walk back alone later? Come find me if you have to?" So maybe his trust in Blair still wasn't all that great.
