Fandom High Prom - Part I

City Hall is aglow with the light from the torches. Streamers in blue and yellow line the way for students towards the ballroom. Inside, hangings and other decorations represent the Lost Cities. A working volcano stands in Krakatoa's corner. Seven DVD players are projecting 3D images of the cities as well. And streamers, glitter, candles, balloons, and lights are everywhere.

Prom has begun.

"Not so much a troublemaker as a brat," Cameron chuckled. "She can stand her own, I'm just not sure how she'd deal with zombies."

"Ah," Sam smiled, remembering her own days with a younger brother. "And well, no, zombies are kind of their own special skill set, aren't they? Though you did well, if I remember hearing right."

Not that she was still bitter she'd missed the zombies or anything.

"It was fun," Cameron grinned. "Smelly, but fun. I'm guessing you've never had to deal with zombies before?"

"No," she laughed, throwing her head back a little, "but some of the other stories I could tell you in a few years..."

"I can wait," Cameron said, still smiling although he looked more serious than he sounded.

"It's a date," Sam smiled at him. Definitely, as dates went, this was one of her more successful ones.

Raising an eyebrow, Cameron grinned at her. "Second date?"

"Er," Sam almost missed a step, but recovered. Mostly. "Yes, Cameron, when I can tell you those stories, it can be a second date."

"So basically you're telling me that the only way you're going out with me again is when I get the right security clearance?" He teased.

"No!" Sam looked horrified that he'd drawn that conclusion, then figured out that he was probably kidding. "I was thinking more about you being a little older, honestly."

"Don't sound so convinced," Cameron laughed and as the song came to an end. "Hmmm, thirsty now?"

Leading the way back to the punch, he shook his head. "I won't cramp your style," he promised. "Same counts for you."

She started laughing as she followed him, "Cameron, I don't have a style to cramp."

Raising an eyebrow, Cameron looked her up and down. "Blonde, hot and smart is a style."

She blushed. "Thank you." Not that she'd ever thought of herself that way--in her head, she was a tall dork who ruined the class curve.

She hooked her arm through his. "Let's get some punch. And see about getting you some glasses."
