Fandom High Prom - Part I

City Hall is aglow with the light from the torches. Streamers in blue and yellow line the way for students towards the ballroom. Inside, hangings and other decorations represent the Lost Cities. A working volcano stands in Krakatoa's corner. Seven DVD players are projecting 3D images of the cities as well. And streamers, glitter, candles, balloons, and lights are everywhere.

Prom has begun.

"Hmmmm," Cameron looked thoughtful. "That won't do, we'll have to up it to great."

Molly tilted her head and eyed him with amused suspicion. "How do you plan on doing that?"

He tilted his head and looked down at her dress. "How good can you move in it?"

Molly looked down at her dress as well. "Pretty good," she said when she looked back up at him with a little bit of confusion. "I'd have to hike the skirt up to run, but I'm hoping that isn't necessary."

"We'll see," he grinned, looking very much like he was up to no good as he slid his arm around her to bring them closer. "The trick is to just hold on," he said and squeezed her hand as he sped up and moved them faster across the floor, not paying attention to the song very much.

Molly grinned up at him and got a better grip on his arm as he pulled her closer. "It's a good thing I didn't try to wear heels," she said.

And then, as Cam said, she just held on.

"I wouldn't have let you fall," he scoffed and tightened his arm around her. Now bumping into other people was a whole different matter as they weren't exactly going with the flow and he was seeing how long it would take Molly to protest.

Molly was having fun and as long as she was having fun, there would be no protest. She started to giggle as they moved across the floor.

Cameron chuckled at the giggling and put Molly's hand on his shoulder so he could wrap both arms around her as he leaned down. "Wanna see if I can get you dizzy?"

Molly smiled brightly and got a good grip on his shoulders. "Go for it," she said.

"Okay, hold on." He grinned and then made them both dance in small circles to see who would get dizzy first.

Molly giggled as they spun and she even held up fine for a while. But, since she wasn't in control of their movement, she got disoriented sooner.

"Okay, stop," she finally said, still laughing. "I feel like my head is going to spin off my neck." She clutched onto his arms to keep her balance.

Cameron laughed and slowed them down completely. He tightened his arms around her to steady her. "So now when people ask you how your prom was, you can say it was dizzying. You okay?"

Molly was still holding onto his arms for balance, but she was smiling when she nodded the affirmative to his question.

"Good," he kept his arms around her. "We'll do it properly now," he said as he stared moving to the music again, going slow this time.

Molly eventually stopped feeling dizzy and relaxed her grip. Dancing was definitely much easier when you didn't feel like you were going to fall down.

Cameron sighed and stroked a hand down her back. "Did I tell you that you look beautiful?"

Molly inhaled as his hand slid down her back. "Yes, you did," she said quietly, looking up into his eyes. "Did I remember to tell you that you look very handsome or did I just tease you?"

"I think there was mostly teasing," he said with a small smile, "but I got what you meant."

"It should be said anyway." Molly smiled back at him. "You look very handsome tonight, Cam," she said.

Cameron chuckled and leaned down a bit. "Careful, it might go to my head," he warned softly.

Molly tilted her head and giggled. "You can't always wear a tux. You'll be back to your regular dork self soon enough."

He huffed. "Are you saying you only find me good looking in a tuxedo?"

Molly rolled her eyes. "You are sooo vain," she said.

"No," he was grinning. "I just like teasing you."
