Fandom High Prom - Part I

City Hall is aglow with the light from the torches. Streamers in blue and yellow line the way for students towards the ballroom. Inside, hangings and other decorations represent the Lost Cities. A working volcano stands in Krakatoa's corner. Seven DVD players are projecting 3D images of the cities as well. And streamers, glitter, candles, balloons, and lights are everywhere.

Prom has begun.

Elizabeth laughed. "Just a little," she agreed. "He really seemed to like me and Janet! It's been quiet so far. Which is good."

"He kissed my hand." D mirthfully confided. "Is that normal here?"

"Um. It's a gesture of greeting and respect," Elizabeth explained. "Not normally found in this sort of situation though; it tends to be restricted towards diplomats nowadays."

"Good, because I'm not kissing the hand of all the people I take pictures of. It would be... weird." D'anna pulled a face.

"Your dress is lovely, by the way. Who did you come with?"

"I think you're safe in that respect," Elizabeth nodded. "He's British. That might have something to do with it."

"Thanks. I love yours too," Elizabeth said. Her cheeks might have turned slightly pink. "I came with Janet."

"Thank you." D made a mental note to find out what British was.

"I haven't seen her yet!" Huh. D hadn't known that Elizabeth and Janet were dating. "Which dress did she wind up with?"

"She's around. Um, somewhere," Elizabeth said, turning to see if she could see her. "The maroon one in the end. She looks amazing."

It took a moment before D'anna spotted her. "She looks splendid! How long have you guys been together?"

Elizabeth's eyes widened slightly and she might have flailed slightly. She definitely went pink. "Uh, it's a pretty recent thing," she said, grinning slightly goofily.

D'anna raised an eyebrow at the pink possible flailment. Elizabeth was one of the least shakeable people she'd met in Fandom. "You really like her, huh?"

"I do," Elizabeth nodded, looking across at D'anna, almost shyly.

"I don't know her that well but she seems pretty cool." D smiled warmly. "And she's lucky to have a girl like you."

"She is," Elizabeth smiled, and blushed again. "Thanks. I'm think I'm pretty lucky to have a girl like her."

D'anna's smile widened. "Well then you are two very fortunate ladies. Good luck with it. Have you had a chance to take a turn on the dace floor yet?"

"We took a twirl after pictures," Elizabeth nodded. "I promised Sam that I'd dance with Professor Lyman at some point as well; she'll be dancing with Professor Tick!" She giggled slightly at that.

"Does that mean we'll get to call Sam 'The Dancinator' for the rest of the night?" D'anna grinned.

D'anna laughed and raised her glass. "All hail Sam, the Dancinator!"

[ooc: yay! thanks! *nods* and got up/will be getting up too damn early. Bed is good though as I'm half tempted to have D ask Liz about "this Macarena thing"]
