Caritas - Open [6/27]

Veronica was still running on nerves and caffeine when she got to work. She was grateful to see Tino was back from wherever he'd been, though he snorted at her when she asked if he'd had a nice vacation.

Aaron hadn't appeared to her again since Anakin chased him off. She was hoping that was a good sign, even though Piper hadn't been able to help her.

Dawn showed up a little after Dean and Sam, and looking not at all like she'd been following them to see what they were up to.

Hey, some habits were hard to break.

Dean's eyes widened when he caught sight of Dawn. "Dawn!" he said a bit too loudly with a bit too wide of a smile. "You're here."

"Hi. Yeah, I am." She took a look around the bar. "Wow, busy place. Lorne would be pleased."

She ordered a Shirley Temple and studied Dean. "Is it a problem that I'm here? Because I can go..."

"No," Dean said quickly. "It's just..." He kinda fidgeted uncomfortably. "Y'see, Sammy and I had this bet."

"Uh huh..." Dawn looked between Sam and Dean. "You're both still in the right bodies, right?"

Sam nodded slowly. "Oh, yeah, we are. We're just...preparing for public embarrassment," he said, motioning to their beers.

"Public embarrassment?" They'd have to pry Dawn off the stool, she decided. "What kind?"

"The uh..." Dean took a long drink of his beer, before continuing in one breath,

Shirley Temples, Dawn discovered, hurt when you snorted them through your sinuses. She looked gleefully from Dean to Sam and back again.

"I'm so glad I was nosy."

"You don't have to watch. Or listen. Or stay in here, even," Sam said earnestly. "Feel free to leave, because it's not going to be pretty."

"You couldn't pay me to leave," she grinned at both of them. "So, what songs are you singing?"

Dean grinned at his brother. "Well, Sammy's here going to be doing his tribute to the Village People with Macho Man."

Dawn cracked up. "I'm so getting you a tool belt before you leave," she told Sam.

Sam rolled his eyes at Dawn. "Well, if you're getting me a tool belt, I'd like to know what you're getting Dean, because he's going to be doing his best Shania Twain impression with Man, I Feel Like a Woman."

Dawn was laughing so hard she started gasping for breath.

Dean stared at his brother for a moment in disbelieving horror. Then he looked down at his drink. "I'm going to need a lot more beer."

"And a pair of spandex pants and a chain link belt." Dawn said, still laughing. "Not to mention Aqua Net and a teasing comb."

Sam laughed and started draining his own beer. The Village People was not a task that could be accomplished sober. "Like I said, you're free to flee now while you still have a chance."

"Why would I want to do that? The show sounds like it'll be fabulous."

"That's not the word I'd choose," Dean said, finishing his beer and getting up and ~~handwavily~~ getting himself and Sam each another.

"Me neither," Sam said, gladly taking the second beer. "The Village People? Do you know how much I dislike you right now?"

"Hey, be grateful. It could've been worse. The first song that popped into my mind was Yellow Polka Dot Bikini."

Sam nearly choked on his beer. "I would have found a way to seek revenge for that beyond tonight."

"I point it out only to show that I took it easy on you," Dean pointed out. "I won't even insist that you do the dance moves to go along with the song."

"Oh thanks, because that makes this so much better. Wait, what makes you so sure I know the dance moves?" Sam replied.
