Raph was definitely not used to all the people, especially the people who were talking to him. He was used to the looks though. "What? Do I have something in my teeth?"

"Not that I can see," Dean replied.

"Good," he muttered. "Stupid celery." He looked over at Dean again. "You new?'

Dean shook his head. "Been here a year now. Well a year and four days if you want to get technical. It's a good place."

Dean looked at him, recognising a little of his own attitude when he first arrived. "You don't want to be here," he observed.

"No kidding," Raph laughed. "I dunno whether this place is supposed to be a punishment or a learning experience. Knowing Splinter, he doesn't see the difference."

"Our father and sensei. We broke the TV and he couldn't watch Gelmoore Gals anymore, so it was either this or...well, no or when he's made his mind up."

"My Dad sent my brother and me here after I got trapped in a portal for three years," Dean offered.

"With no time," Dean said. "Felt like one night for me, but three years for my Dad and my brother. So yeah, no tv."

"Oh, that ain't so bad for you. Three years sitting there with no TV would make me go crazy. Not so good for your family. I'd probably go stir crazy if my brother disappeared."

Dean nodded, looked around and spotted Sammy's head above others. There were advantages to having a gigantor for a brother. "That's him there," he said, pointing him out.

"My little brother's an overachiever," Dean said dryly. "Even in growing."

Raph grunted. "Got an overachiever brother too. He's still waiting on another growth spurt. Probably will keep waiting until he's 30."

"How old are you?" Dean asked curiously. "Kinda hard to tell what with the shell and all."

"Sixteen. Don't know our real birthdays, but we go from when Splinter found us. You about the same?"

Dean nodded. "Turned 16 in January. Or possibly 19. Or 28. Depending on if you go with how many years I've lived, how many years since I was born in my own time or how many years since I was born in the year it is here. I tend to go with the first -- it's simpler that way."

"I was never any good at math. Donnie's the one who'll probably figure out we're in a different year or universe or whatever, then won't shut up about it for the next month."
