Fourth of July BBQ Part 2, Galactica Point, 11 a.m. till ?

Anyone coming down to the beach to enjoy the holiday would find that it's been prepared for the perfect holiday celebration. There's chairs and umbrellas, sand and water toys, food, music, and volleyball nets. Wood has been stacked for a bonfire once the sun goes down and a sign is posted advertising fireworks at 10:00 p.m.

Come celebrate the Fourth of July!

There's boogie boards, noodles and tubes. Come on in, the waters fine.

As the sun sets, a bonfire is lit. There's s'mores fixings available for whoever needs a sugar rush.

For anyone who feels like getting away from the crowd.

There's a law that requires fireworks (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IN5onL_jGgE) on the Fourth. Honestly!

Oh, Dick was so going to surf. ~~It's in the username after all~~ Good thing he got a lot of practice in Neptune last weekend.

Eventually Isabel grabbed a boogie board and waded out into the water.

River had never tried a boogie board before, but it looked fun. She grabbed one and headed out into the water.

Bart had no idea how to surf, but he was willing to try!

...plus he did play that surfing game once so he totally had the basics.

B-Up-Back-B-A-B.

Taking one of the tubes and just sitting it and floating around near the shore was a perfectly good use for it, in Chad's opinion.

Aeryn isn't planning on staying here long, because last year that did not make her happy weather-wise. But still, she can be here for a while. It just might require some swimming time. No surfboards, though. Because really.

Karal was there, wearing the entirely unfamiliar black board shorts and t-shirt which Isabel had ~~handwavily~~ helped him buy yesterday.

Self-conscious didn't even begin to cover how he felt, and he looked between Isabel and Molly, trying to conceal his nervousness as he dipped a toe in the water. "Going in the ocean is much less worrying when one is on a horse."

Molly giggled and took his hand. "It'll be okay. You have both me and Isabel here to make sure you don't float out to sea."

Isabel had given up on the actual boogie part of boarding and was just floating in the water, leaning on the board. "This is one way to stay cool."

Isabel was holding onto a bright green noodle just in case. "What do you think? Doesn't it feel nice? And it's really not too wavey today."

Karal squeezed Molly's hand and gave her a grateful smile. "I know. It is nice," he admitted. "And, as you say, not too wavey." Karal ventured in a few more steps, watching the water swirl around his shins as he curled his toes into the wet sand, and kept a tight hold on Molly's hand. "Ss it difficult to swim?"

"That's what I'm counting on," she says, pushing wet hair out of her face. "I'm much happier here."

Molly made sure to stay close to him as long as he was clinging to her hand like that. "No," she said. "It just takes practice."

"Yeah, the sand does get to be a bit hot after awhile," she nodded. "How are you doing?" Isabel had heard radio last week. She worries.

"You'll get the hang of it," Isabel assured him. "You've never done anything like this before? I'm asking because I'm trying to figure out where to start."

"All right," she says, shrugging one shoulder while treading water. "Getting ready to leave, mostly."

Which she is oh so happy about.

Isabel was just as oh so happy about that. "Yeah, when's that going to happen?" she asked.

"Like anything," he said to Molly, starting to relax a little. "And I have had baths," he added, giving Isabel a wry smile. "I do not think that counts." He took a deep breath and nodded firmly, wading out a bit further, loosening his grip on Molly's hand. Slightly. "But at least I am not wearing robes! Where do we start?"

"Sunday," she answers simply.

Too soon was Isabel's first thought, but she had a feeling Aeryn didn't need to hear that. "Wow. It won't be the same without you around."
