Beach - Sunday Afternoon

After leaving Teddy at the Perk, Katara made her way along the beach thoughtfully.  She couldn't come back to this island after so long without visiting it and remembering the countless hours she'd spent perfecting her waterbending on it.  The ocean felt the same.  Warmer than at home, but still right.

She reached into her pocket to take out a piece of the chocolate she'd made sure to find and savored the flavour, wondering again if it were possible to import to home.

"I don't remember you liking it before," she rubbed in pointed out, still staying close.

"Perhaps you're changing my mind?" he offered.

"Probably," Katara teased. "It happens often enough."

"Shhhh, if people hear you'll never get a moment's rest again," he teased her.

"You say that like I do now," Katara teased back.

"All the more reason to heed my words," he informed her.

"So you agree there need to be reasons to heed your words now?" she asked sweetly. "Not just because of the Stamp of the Firelord?"

He frowned at her. "Same thing."

She smiled, and maybe that refusal to separate himself was one of the things she loved about him even as it frustrated her. "If you insist."

"I do," he said haughtily, his fingers brushing the inside of her wrist.

Her eyes closed for a second. "Maybe I should work on changing your mind. Since I'm so good at it."

"You can try," he allowed, his tone smooth and even, but there was amusement easily readable in his features.

"You know I usually succeed at what I set my mind to," Katara told him, stepping closer to him again so her body just brushed his. It was more touching than they'd usually allow themselves. But this was a different place.

"Perhaps because I let you," he teased, curious to see if she'd rise to the bait this time.

"Oh you think so?" Katara asked, sounding exasperated. Another flick of water might possibly have sprayed over hi face and topknot. "We'll see about it."

His fingers tightened around her wrist so she couldn't step away. "You are going to create an international incident, Ambassador."

"You already agreed to a duel, Firelord," she told him, looking up into his face challengingly.

"So you're just adding to the offense?" he concluded.

"I am," Katara agreed. "What will you do?"

It was really strange not having to worry about anyone watching them, but he was more than happy to get used to it as he quickly stole another kiss. "There."

Katara smiled up at him. "I knew I liked international incidents."

"I will warn your brother," he teased, not that he had any desire to involve Sokka in any of this.

"You might get called Zukes again," she pointed out.

Zuko made a face. "Have I mentioned that your brother is strange? It sometimes makes me wonder how you turned out so normal."

"I'm not sure anything about any of us that went here is normal," Katara argued.
