Robin still kind of had no idea how she'd wound up doing this, but it was funny and she could laugh and drink and just enjoy her post-Valentine's glow behind the bar while everyone else suffered.

And in the meanwhile, she set out a pretty little sign.

That done, she wandered by to the stage to take the mic. "So, hi. You know how sometimes you're at a bar, and you just don't know how to talk to those pretty people you're eyeing? Or, you know, you want to know what the deal is with that creepy guy in the corner who won't stop staring? Well, tonight, we're taking all that guesswork out of it! Welcome to Three Minute Dates! I'm your hostess and deeply amused bartender, Robin Scherbatsky."

"So here's how it goes -- when I call your name plus someone else's, it'll be time for you to find that other person and either lemon law them or find your way to true love...slash a good one night stand! Or a bad one. It's part of the fun! And then lather, rinse and repeat for four more times, because yes, boys and girls, you're doing this five times."

Millie smiled. "Hello, Stanley, it is good to see you."

Stan smiled back. He could do this. "Millie, it has been ages. How are things at the bookshop?"

"Quite well," she said with a smile. "And how are you doing?"

"About as well as can be expected," he said with a smile. "Fishing is poor, what with the ice."

She looked a bit confused, but smiled. "Well, I believe it will be spring soon and then you can once again fish."

"I do hope so. The weather lately has been a bit..." He made a noncommittal hand gesture.

She smiled again. "I find the weather here quite interesting. So different from where I was raised."

"I expect it was a little less snow monsters and floods," he said, his halfsmile back again.

"It was mostly desert and hot sun," Millie admitted. "Not that I saw much of anything outside the temple grounds. I wasn't allowed out except on the holy day and then there were too many people to see much."

"It must be good for you here," he questioned, "with the expanse of the island, sky above and dirt--well, part of the year, at least--at your feet."

He tilted his head slightly. "As long as it's not overrun with jello dragons."

Stan was thinking about dirt, about a garden, about if he would be here in the spring and plant something with roots.

Millie nodded. "Yes. Oh dear. Our time seems to be up. It was nice seeing you again."

"It was a pleasure," he said, giving her an honest smile.
