Caritas - Friday evening [Open]

Jolee and Tino were stocking plenty of clean glasses behind the bar. This weekend meant family. Family meant drinking. It was a fact of life. It's part of the reason why Jolee never bothered with a family after breaking from the Jedi: he preferred sobriety.

The preparations ended when the door opened and Jolee felt an all-too familiar presence. "I'm sorry, Tino, but it looks like you're on your own tonight," he said, turning to face Revan. "We'll be in the lounge if you need me for anything."

[OOC: I'm totally cheating and making this a mod Tino night. As stated above, Jolee will be in the lounge if anyone wants to talk to him specifically.]

Nancy was barely a step behind him. "Hey guys!" She smiled winningly at John, the girl, and the older guy. He was pretty hot.

Jaina looked over, not quite sure who she was or who she was with, since she was kind of new. "Uhhh, hi?"

"Hey!" John's eyes widened. They'd found him. "You found me! Dave, Nancy, this is Jaina, my girlfriend. And uh, this is Kyp."

He turned apologetic eyes to Jaina before repeating himself as one does in these situations. "Jaina, Kyp, this is my brother, Dave, and a friend of the family, Nancy."

"Nice to meet you," Dave offered his hand. "John's... never mentioned you before today." Not that John had told them anything at all, but he still thought it was worth saying.

It didn't bother her in the slightest. She'd figured as much. "I'm much better to meet in person anyway," Jaina said with a shrug. No, she wasn't, but she could fake it.

John was too busy gaping at Dave through his beer to respond.

"Of course you are," Nancy agreed, trying to downplay the obvious issues between the boys. "And who'd expect our John to share all the little details anyway?"

Mostly Kyp was watching and trying to make sure Jaina's glare didn't turn into Force-thwapping, which was why he decided to be helpful. "I hear plenty," he said. Not from John, but who cared. See, helpful.

John raised his eyebrow at Kyp, wondering what the hell Kyp thought he was talking about, even if John did appreciate the help.

"So, uh, you guys find the hotel all right?" The question was open to any of the three who were thankfully not staying in the dorms.

"The only failure in our surprise was the lack of a room for me," Nancy sighed. "But I'm sure I'll manage something."

"I hear hotel room floors are good for the back," Jaina offered immediately, signaling Tino for a drink.

"I'm sure John doesn't want an old friend to have to sleep on the floor," Dave pointed out.

John closed his eyes, wondering if he could roll them right back around in his head if he wished hard enough.

"I'm sure we can find someplace for Nancy. If things get desperate, I've got a sofa in my room."

"I didn't mean to cause any trouble," Nancy said, resting a friendly hand on his shoulder. "But thanks, John. It'll be just like old times."

Jaina wasn't normally a jealous person, especially when she knew she had nothing to worry about.

But she really disliked this girl.

"No need for desperation, you can always stay in my room," Jaina told her, striving for pleasant. "You can have a bed and everything."

That wasn't Nancy's favorite of the solutions, but her response was all serenity. "Oh, no need to displace your roommate, sweetie. I'm sure I'll manage."

"Oh, it's okay, I can stay upstairs. I have no problem being displaced."

Jaina was ignoring Kyp next to her, holding a drink or his hand up in order to keep the others from seeing him trying tnot to laugh.

"It's very kind of you to offer, Jaina, was it?" Dave didn't really ask. "But, I think we'll all be happier if no one has to be inconvenienced."

"It's not an inconvenience, Dave," John was biting his lip against a fresh glare. "Let's just consider it nice to be surrounded by such friendly and accommodating women."

"Since that's settled," said Kyp once he was sure he wasn't smiling anymore, "did you two have any plans for the rest of the weekend?"

It would be wrong for him to have thoughts of watching whatever those plans were for entertainment, but he'd never been that good anyway.

"Well, I was hoping to take a tour of the school and the rest of the island," Dave replied. "And possibly meet some of John's teachers, if that's possible." If it sounded like he was checking up on his brother, that's because he was.

"I was planning on just hanging out with Johnny," Nancy added. "You know, catching up on old times and all that." She winked at Jaina to make sure she understood there was no harm intended.

There was a bright side here, which was that Jaina wasn't dwelling on Jacen a lot at the moment. "I'm afraid I can't let him be completely monopolized, though," Jaina said with the brightness that came with making up plans she didn't have before.

Later she'd kick herself for acting like an idiot, but that was later.

Disappointed that Jaina wasn't going to play fair, Nancy hung on John's shoulder and made a sad face. "Aww, you get our John all the time, I can't have him for just the one, tiny, little weekend?"

John didn't understand why Nancy was clinging to him like she was, especially considering his girlfriend was right there. "I did promise I'd stick with Jaina and Kyp," he managed, even if the excuse was weak and easily overruled.
