Caritas [Saturday evening]

Robin was not wearing her Robin Sparkles regalia longer than she needed to. Which was for the obligatory performance.

So, for right now, the wig and graffiti denim jacket were tucked away, and Robin herself, brunette and irritable-looking as ever, was behind the bar and eyeing a bottle of Johnnie Walker.

"Yes," her excitement was showing now, picturing it in her mind. "Sexy, but still classy."

"I've dealt with headstarts before," she sipped her drink, enjoying the tartness and just being out without worrying, "I'll manage."

"And you do already know people," she remembered. "Chuck was telling me all about you the other night." Well, not all about, but she was prone to exaggeration, sometimes.

"Oh god," she closed her eyes for a moment, wondering just what he could have said, "what did my step-brother tell you? Please say you took it with a grain of salt."

Or seven.

"Oh, nothing bad, I promise," she laughed. "Just about how he loves to torture you now you're siblings. I was quite drunk, so if there was anything else, I don't remember it."

"Then I got off easily," she admitted, leaning in close. "We've known each other a very long time and his love of torture isn't anything new."

"Doesn't surprise me," Angela said with a slight shake of her head. "But no, he did not go spilling any deep dark secrets over girly shots."

"Tell me he did not do girly shots," it would amuse her too much to know that he did.

"I cannot do that," Angela said cheerfully. "Apparently not his thing, but he seemed to be enjoying them enough." He'd certainly knocked back a lot.

"So he'll blame you for it entirely, but you know that he was loving every moment," Serena sighed, "that's so entirely Chuck."

Angela nodded her agreement. "Which means he'll also probably blame me for the dancing, which is sad, because he was so enthusiastic at the time."

So mean to Chuck, handing out ammo like this. But it was so fun.

"Please, please tell me someone had a photo?" She grabbed Angela's arm, nearly begging her, "or a video?"

Angela shook her head sadly. "Nowhere near the presence of mind for that," she admitted. "In my memories only."

"I'm going to tie your phone to your hand," Serena swore, "so next time there can be proof."

"Normally I would be all about the proof," Angela said, smiling. "But after four or five shots, not so much on your mind."

"Next time I get him on stage," she promised. Like there would be one of those.

"He was dancing on a stage?" It was almost painful to hear this and for there not to be a gossip girl update on it. "I can't believe I missed that."

"In a burlesque club," she added, grinning broadly. "Get him drunk enough, he might just do it for you."

"Not his club?" She looked sharply at Angela, "did you go to New York?"

"Oh, no no, it's just over on the mainland. Not too far," she said, shaking her head. "But it is his."

"Damn," Serena had been hoping... She fingered the edge of her glass, drawing an invisible pattern, "I mean, to go to New York? I miss it so much."

"It's not like you couldn't go back and visit, is it?" Angela asked. "Take a weekend off and get a top-up dose of New York?"

"I know, just..." It was hard to explain, "I'm trying to get used to here, and not be there. I just was hoping for the news."

Angela nodded her head a little apologetically. "Sorry. I've been there a few times, but... different universe, or timeline or something, probably." Because this place was lovely and confusing like that.

"Exactly," she sighed, "even if you had gone with Chuck, it wouldn't have been the same."

"One of those things you've kind of got to get used to around here," she agreed, and shrugged before sipping at her drink.

"And weirdly, you do start to, sort of."

"I think I am," she was playing with her glass more than drinking it. Another trick to avoid it, and one she didn't even realise she still did. "As weird as it is, it happens."
