Graduation Weekend Brunch | Early Afternoon | Sunday | May 2
With the ceremony completed and the graduated officially done with their high school careers, a brunch had been planned to celebrate the occasion and allow graduates, their guests, and the other inhabitants of the island to enjoy some good food and good conversation outside. The weather was warm and the sky was clear.
Fraser had been busy helping set up since the early morning hours. Apparently, Dean Stinson had gone a little overboard with some of the food, particularly the cake. The huge sheet cake arrived via truck and, where Fraser thought he'd be able to carry it, ended up having to use a forklift to get it to the park. From there, it took several people to lift the cake onto a table of its own. It was that big. Fraser hoped everyone enjoyed and hoped everyone was prepared to take a lot of cake home.
There were also several other tables of food and drinks, ready to be enjoyed. There were tables and chairs situated around the park, covered by tents to keep it from becoming too warm.
And there was cake. Please don't forget the cake.

Re: Mingling [Grad Brunch 2010]
He frowned and scraped a bit of icing off his cake. "Possibly I'd not feel that way had I gone through it."

Re: Mingling [Grad Brunch 2010]
Then it occurred to him what he was agreeing with and he got the giggles as he went to swallow. "My apologies," he explained. "I just realized you called fighting a beat with the head of a lion 'annoying' and 'not grueling' and -- the strange hit me again, all at once. I miss it sometimes."
Re: Mingling [Grad Brunch 2010]
"Well," he said, "Put in a few days here every month and it'll come swimming back to you, no doubt. I wish I could say a beast with the head of a lion was the most monstrous thing I'd fought before, but..."
Re: Mingling [Grad Brunch 2010]
Mentioning Camelot reminded him of a question. "May I take a wild stab and guess you're all headed back as soon as possible?"
Re: Mingling [Grad Brunch 2010]
If he sounded a little overly casual, it was because he was desperately trying not to sound as... ... desperate as he felt.

Not that he knew exactly what to say in that case, but there was always cliche to fall back on. "I've been grateful to know you."
Re: Mingling [Grad Brunch 2010]
"Likewise," he said, however. Sometimes, cliches were the best fall-backs, and the most meaningful when it came down to it. "Although I hope it won't be too long."

He was considering whether one hug would go completely amiss.

"I'll try to make sure I have plenty for you," Arthur promised him, partway sincere and partway utterly amused. "Lion heads and all."
Re: Mingling [Grad Brunch 2010]
Romeo had very bad luck decoding Japanese menus.
He rose and took a short step around to Arthur. "Let me give you a hug before you go back to being stoic." Not entirely masculine, but at least direct.
Re: Mingling [Grad Brunch 2010]
And then laughed, because you sort of had to.
"If it'll soothe your delicate sensibilities about my departure," he allowed.

Re: Mingling [Grad Brunch 2010]
... shut up.
He was happy to let it all go fairly quickly.
"So how are matters in Tokyo?"

If she didn't ... Romeo wasn't going to borrow trouble. But he'd been away long enough.
