Parents' Weekend Brunch, Sunday Morning to Afternoon, The Park

As was traditional, the start of the end of Parents' Weekend featured plenty of food, benches, chairs, and coffee in the park. After all, the Student Council couldn't let the parents be weirded out one last time without a feast.

The sky was a little overcast, but the temperatures were still above normal, which was a lucky break for the final day of the weekend.

[OOC: Have fun!]

"Just people's friends from home or whatever," he mumbled. "Who maybe... like them. In the stupid girl way. 's weird."

Were you getting it yet, O Logical Peter?

Ohhhh, right, so Topher had some dumb crush.

... on a guy. Peter took a quick glance towards Tony. Well, that was useful to know.

"Right," he said, "I'm getting the picture."

"It's just annoying," Topher clarified. "I mean. Psh. Girls, right? So lame."

That tone was not capable of convincing anyone of anything, Topher. Try again.
lockestheway: (peter: watching)

Topher was just lucky Peter wasn't that interested in delving into it. And how willing was he to keep pretending he cared?

...Quite a lot, as it turned out, as long as it meant hanging around with someone who wasn't going to compare him to his brother every other three words and maybe appreciated his awesomeness.

"Completely," he said. "So how about we grab some snack food from the brunch and poke at some of your robots for a while?"

Not a date, Topher. More of a 'I'm miserable and you're miserable so let's go somewhere where you can be miserable while praising my awesome' party.

Topher's face actually twitched toward a smile at that. Good work, Peter!

"Yeah," he agreed. "That sounds good."

Of course, he would end up getting punched before he left the brunch, but it wasn't like Peter could've known that.

"Good," Peter said, reaching out to pat him on the shoulder for a very rare display of physical whatever. "I'll catch you on my floor in like fifteen minutes?"

Topher cast a quick glance over to where Tony was standing with a couple of girls, then back to Peter. "Sure," he said, in a very rare display of agreeability. "You want me to bring anything up? Onion rings are good today."

They were always good, Topher. They were onion rings.

"Yeah, sure, onion rings," Peter said, with a wave of his hand. "Maybe something meaty."

The food didn't matter. The fluffing up of Peter's damaged ego did.

"'Kay, I'll grab some chicken nuggets or something," Topher promised, almost brightly. Peter could really brighten up someone's day! Who would've thought? "See you up there!"
lockestheway: (peter: the future's only hope)

"Later," Peter waved him off.

Hey, it was better than spending the next few hours in his room wrapped up in a blanket rereading all the best mentions Locke had ever gotten from important politicians.
